Trident completes FRECA roster with Tangavelou

Owen Tangavelou will be joining Trident for the 2023 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season, the team is delighted to announce. The Italian operation, led by Maurizio Salvadori, will line the experienced racer up alongside Roman Bilinski, who will attempt his second season in the series, and rookie driver Nikhil Bohra.

Tangavelou is the perfect element to complete the Trident formation, and with his 2022 experience, he will be able to provide a key contribution to the team. After two seasons in the French Formula 4 Championship, the 17-year-old Frenchman, who has Vietnamese origins, put together an outstanding progression in his FRECA debut year and achieved his first rookie class win in the Mugello finale.

On that occasion, Tangavelou also secured his best result of the year with sixth place overall. He also added three more points finishes and brought his total to 15, enough to be 20th overall in standings and ninth among rookies.

Maurizio Salvadori, Team Owner, Trident:
“Owen is a really quiet guy, but as it turns out, he is extremely determined when he’s behind the wheel. In the tests we had together, he proved that he has the speed instinct, but he also showed the ability to use the indications from the technicians in an analytic manner. The chemistry with the team was there immediately, and I think Tangavelou is the perfect choice to wrap-up this line-up which will help us to pursue our goals with three extremely talented drivers.”

Owen Tangavelou:
“I feel very privileged to join Trident, a very professional and famous team in motorsport. The five test days we had together went perfectly. We have all the abilities to aim for great results. I would also like to thank Trident for choosing and trusting me”.
