Traditional track in Kerpen welcomes the DKM

The Erftlandring in Kerpen is the venue for the fourth event of the German Kart Championship this coming weekend and could prove to be groundbreaking in the title fight. The supporting programme will once again feature the youngsters of the Mini 60 Series by Chrono Karting. The title sponsor is GTC Race - the sports car series has been a partner of the DKM since the beginning of the year and supports the championship with a GT4 test drive.

After races in Mülsen, Genk (Belgium) and Wackersdorf, the DKM squad travels on to Kerpen. The 1,107-metre Erftlandring has a long tradition in German motorsport and is an integral part of the DKM race calendar. In the past decades, the circuit in North Rhine-Westphalia has often been the starting point of a successful motorsport career.

However, due to lignite mining in the Erft region, the modernisation of the circuit came to a standstill in recent years. Since the future has become clear, however, the Kart-Club Kerpen e.V. has been working continuously on the track and its surroundings. In addition to new asphalt, the paddock has been extended, new track boundaries built and the public facilities renewed.

In terms of sport, the fans can look forward to exciting racing days. In the German Shifter Kart Championship, Dutchman Stan Pex (SP Motorsport) is on his way to his second title in Germany's top kart racing series since winning in 2019. Before the rounds in Kerpen, he already has a 55-point lead over his brother and the reigning champion Jorrit Pex. The best German driver is currently Tim Tröger (Maranello SRP Racing Team) in third place.

In the DMSB Shifter Kart Cup, the newly crowned KZ2 World Cup winner Niels Tröger (Maranello SRP Racing Team) has his first race after his great success in Wackersdorf. There he brought a World Cup title back to Germany after 43 years. In the DSKC category he also holds all the aces and travels to Erftland with a 54-point lead. His direct pursuers are Linus Hensen (Mach1 Motorsport - Kartschmie.de), Juliano Holzem (CPB Sport) and Thomas Rackl (Maranello SRP Racing Team). The trio is currently separated by only eight championship points.

The battle in the German Junior Kart Championship is also close. Marc Gerstenkorn (TB Racing Team) goes into the semi-final as the leader, but he can't rest on his laurels. Phil Colin Strenge (ADAC Württemberg e.V.) is trailing him by two points. Cemil Bayyati (Lanari Racing Team) and the Czech David Gorcica (Forza Racing) are still in third and fourth positions.

In the supporting programme, the youngsters from the Mini 60 Series by Chrono Karting are again represented. Among the favourites is Lenn Abbas (Rodopi Racing Academy), the Cologne native started in the bambini school of the Kart-Club Kerpen e.V. and already won the races in Mülsen and Wackersdorf. A total of 17 young drivers will be competing.

Live timing, live stream and social media accompany the DKM

Starting with the heats on Saturday, all events will be broadcast in a live stream on www.kart-dm.de. In addition, there is already live timing from Friday noon - also at www.kart-dm.de.
