Tony Kart soon winner of the Champions of the Future
In Campillos, home of the first round of the Euro Series, their Racer 401 T finishes in front of everyone in the final reserved for the OKJ category, with the official driver Ilie Tristan Crisan.
The Champions of the Future Euro Series starts in the best way for the Tony Kart Racing Team, fresh from the two consecutive victories won in the last two rounds of the WSK Super Master Series. In Spain, on the Campillos circuit, the Tony Kart Racer 401 T won the OKJ category, powered by the VTJ engine of Vortex Engines, and showed excellent potential in OK, paired with the VTS unit of the OTK Kart Group "engine division".
In OKJ, Ilie Tristan Crisan is immediately at the top of the category standings: their driver, in fact, is the fastest in group 3 of qualifying and, with four victories and two fastest laps in qualifying heats, retains third place at the end of the heats. The Canadian driver, after finishing in second place in Superheat A, starts from the second row in the final and, during the lap, manages to take the lead. Thanks to an almost perfect race pace, in addition to recording the best chrono time, Crisan crosses the finish line first and closes the weekend with a brief first place in the championship.
Julian Frasnelli, in his first full season among the "Juniors", starts well with the fourth time in the third group of timed practice. The fourth place obtained in the warm-up of the final day of the event confirms once again Frasnelli's quick familiarization to the new category, but the final is stingy with satisfaction: an accident on the second lap prevents him from closing the Spanish event in the best possible way. In his second appearance of the season with their team and with an encouraging second best time in his morning warm-up, Sebastian Eskandari-Marandi is also ready to play his cards in the final; the Australian, however, is unfortunately put out of action on the opening lap. Nikita Ljubimov, thanks to a contact with another opponent, is also forced to leave the final early.
Finally, Henri-Constant Kumpen and Oliveri Sini work hard with their staff, in view of Round 1 of the FIA Karting European Championship which will take place on the Campillos circuit.
In OK class, thanks to the success obtained two weeks earlier in Viterbo in the WSK Super Master Series, Jindřich Pešl opens the weekend with the best time in group 3 of qualifying and collects a victory and a third place in qualifying heats. However, two retirements in the fourth heat and in Superheat A hinder the path of the Czech driver which is forced to start from the last rows of the starting grid of the final. Thomas Pradier stands out in Superheat A, gaining eight positions in the standings, and is the best of their standard-bearers in the final, thanks to a comeback of seven positions. Oliver Rasmussen is good proves to have good potential thanks to the solid performance shown throughout the event, while Gino Rocchio officially makes his debut alongside their sports division.
There will be no break for the Tony Kart Racing Team, ready to face the first round of the FIA Karting European Championship, reserved for the OK and OKJ categories, scheduled on the Spanish circuit of Campillos (3rd to 6th April).
