Tony Kart again on the podium at the Trinec European Champ
The Tony Kart Racing Team’s FIA Karting European Championship for OK-OKJ categories continues with another top result. At the Steel Ring International Circuit in Třinec (Czech Republic), a third place in the OK category is gained with the Tony Kart Racer 401 RR, powered by Vortex's VTS engine. Their chassis also show off in OKJ class, with the VTJ units of the OTK Kart Group's "engine division".
In OK category, the excellent moment of Sebastiano Pavan continues, author a month ago of a third place at the WSK Super Master Series of Cremona and in contention for the podium at the recent Champions of the Future Euro Series of Třinec. The young Italian driver, a rookie in his category, is the author of an error-free run in the qualifying heats (where he collects a Top 3rd as his best result), to which he is able to add a fourth place in the Sunday morning's superheat. But it is in the final that their leader clearly emerges: despite a start from the ninth box on the grid, he leads a series of laps with an excellent rhythm, not affected by the several overtakes he manages to perform. A constant action, this, throughout the race, which allows him to climb the ranking and reach the podium. Second place in round 1 in Valencia, Jan Przyrowski shows to have a good pace in the eliminatory heats, but a 5-second penalty for the front spoiler in the wrong position in A-B heat and a stop in B-C heat slow down their driver's progress. The Polish driver makes up for it with a positive Top 10 in the B super heat on Sunday morning, but a start from the back of the grid in the decisive final does not allow him to move up the ranking. Also, Arthur Poulain collects important results in the qualifying heats (four Top 5 places out of four races): it is a pity that in the last heat an accident does not allow him to gain a top position, within his reach, on the starting grid of the final, a race in which the French driver, as well as his teammate Przyrowski, struggles to make his way in the middle of the group. A difficult European appointment for Luigi Coluccio, this year's protagonist of the success in Sarno on the occasion of the WSK Super Master Series. The Italian driver is not particularly lucky in the qualifying heats, where he cannot finish two heats, however, he is ready to recover in the next Rodby event (Denmark), as well as Zoe Florescu Potolea and Jakub Rajski, always working with their staff, to refine their driving skills.
In OKJ, Scott Kin Lindblom is their best representative in the Sunday's final. The Swedish driver arrives at the last race of the weekend on the strength of a series of good results in the qualifying heats (including a Top 3 and two fourth places) and, avoiding any kind of collision in the frantic start, he finishes the weekend in the top ten. The real surprise of the race, however, is the very fast Maria Germano Neto, the only girl to take part in the final. The Portuguese girl impresses in the qualifying heats thanks to her third place in the group and collects a haul of two podiums and a fastest lap in the eliminatory heats, followed by a successful fourth place in B Super Heat. Unfortunately, she is the victim of too many collisions on the track during the final which prevent her to gain a top place amply deserved for the speed skills showed.
Despite a complex chrono practice session, Davide Bottaro climbs the intermediate ranking by a total of 15 places thus gaining the access to the final. A pity, however, for Alp Hasan Aksoy, who continues to grow throughout the weekend: the Turkish driver, unfortunately, does not access the final.
Moving on to Italy, more precisely to Cremona for the Italian ACI Karting Championship, the youngest MINI drivers get on the track. Ilie Tristan Crisan shows off in the MINI Gr.3 with a third place in the qualifying heats, but he is forced to stop twice, in both race 1 and race 2. Bruno Blanco, on the other hand, climbs not less than 23 positions in race 1, sets the fastest lap and finishes eighth; in race 2 he again hits the Top 10. Absolute debut with the Tony Kart colours for Achille Rea in the MINI Gr.3 U10, sixth position at the end of the eliminatory heats and also fast in the two finals.
From the Czech Republic to Denmark: the Tony Kart Racing Team in a fortnight time (31st May – 3rd June) will face the third round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, on the circuit of Rodby.
