The third round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship got underway in Sarno with the first protagonists in pole position
The third round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship got underway at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno with 250 drivers on track. The first interesting results came from the qualifying practice held on Friday. Heats will follow on Saturday, July 6th while the double Finals with live TV coverage on AutoMotoTV and web streaming will be on Sunday, July 7th.
A total of 250 drivers made it to the track at the International Circuit Napoli in Sarno for the third round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship on July 5th - 7th in what is a very interesting battle for the Italian 2019 campaign that is at its turning point. Categories on track are KZ2, 60 Mini, KZN Under (up to 35 years), KZN Over (from 36), and categories Junior and Senior for the two X30 and Rok Trophies.
Meanwhile, qualifying practice named the first protagonists of the weekend on Friday with some surprising results, exception made for KZ2 where the home hero Giuseppe Palomba (Croc-Tm) had the upper hand on his rivals posting the quickest time in 55.874s. The performance of Danilo Albanese (Tony Kart-Vortex) has also been great as he has always been very quick on this circuit and posted the second time in 56.025s. Davide De Marco (KR-Tm) posted a good third time in 56.137s. Classification leader Simone Cunati (CRG-Tm) was seventh in 56.270s and proceeded the second in the standings, Francesco Iacovacci (Maranello-Tm) who posted a 56.281s.
The quickest of Series-1 of 60 Mini was the Belgian Douwe Dedecker (Parolin-Tm) in 1:06.391s, while the pole position of Series-2 went to the American Mattias Orjuela (Praga-Tm) in 1:06.208s. Classification leader from Great Britain William MacIntyre (Parolin-Tm) posted the fourth time of Serie-1 in 1:06.624s.
The second round of KZN after the opener in Siena saw Alessio Mordini (Energy-Tm) going quickest in 56.928s leading Emanuele Simonetti (Tony Kart-Tm) in 57.037s. Classification leader Roberto Cesari (Top Kart-Tm) has been the quickest of Series-2 in 56.983s, leading Edoardo Tolfo (Praga-Tm) who completed his best lap in 57.109s. Roberto Profico (Tony Kart-Tm) claimed a surprising pole position in 57.259s and is the current classification leader, while Marco Pagani (Parolin-Tm) is second and posted a 57.347s.
The fastest of X30 Junior was the young Pole Timoteus Kucharczyk (Parolin-Iame) in 1:00.760s. He led Alessandro Cenedese (KR-Iame) who was second in 1:00.902s. Classification leader Cristian Bertuca (BirelArt-Iame) was only 16th in 1:01.193s.
In X30 Senior, the best position of Series-1 went to Francesco Pio Scognamiglio (Tony Kart-Iame) in 59.831s, while classification leader Edoardo Ludovico Villa (TB Kart-Iame) confirmed to be the leader of Series-2 in 59.677s.
The fastest of Rok Junior was Pietro Ragone (Tony kart-Vortex) in 1:00.709s, while Federico Biagioli (Tony Kart-Vortex) was the fastest of Rok Senior in 59.181s.
