The outcome of the qualifying heats at the WSK Super Master Series at Lonato

David Trefilov is on top of KZ2, Luigi Coluccio in OK, René Lammers leads the OKJ class and Jindrich Pesl in MINI. Live Streaming on Sunday, January 30 starts at 10:40.

It was an important day at South Garda Karting, Lonato where the qualifying heats at the first of the four rounds of the WSK Super Master Series saw the event contenders coming to the fore from the 265 drivers from 50 different countries contesting KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI. It has been a good sporting and technical challenge with the participation of all the constructors and a lot of international champions being challenged by several emerging talents.

The German Trefilov leads KZ2.

The German David Trefilov (Maranello SRP/Maranello-TM Racing-Vega) confirmed to be on top of KZ2 after claiming the pole position and winning two heats. Two victories were also scored by the French driver Jeremy Iglesias (CRG Racing Team/CRG-TM Racing), but his position is spoiled by a bad result in the first heat held on Friday, that was won by the Italian Giuseppe Palomba (BirelART Racing/BirelART-TM Racing). The Dutch driver Senna Van Walstijn (Sodikart/Sodikart-TM Racing) had a positive day. He recently won the WSK Champions Cup and was very competitive on this occasion too, as he won one heat.

Classification of the heats by penalty: 1. Trefilov 2; 2. Van Walstijn 6; 3. Tonteri 11; 4. Leuillet 12; 5. Pex 12; 6. Palomba 12; 7. Iglesias 13; 8. Carbonnel 16.

The Italian Coluccio is the protagonist of OK.

The Italian Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont) secured the best possible result in OK thanks to two wins and a second place in the three heats he ran. The pole-sitter from Brazil, Matheus Ferreira (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame) is chasing him in P2. The third place is currently occupied by the Brit Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport/LN-Vortex). The Pole Gustaw Wisniewski (Forza Racing/Exprit-TM Racing) won the two heats run today, but a retirement in the first heat on Friday pushed him down to P12.

Classification of the heats by penalty: 1. Coluccio 2; 2. Ferreira 8; 3. Slater 10; 4. Bohra 12; 5. Eyckmans 15; 6. Nakamura 16; 7. Popov 16; 8. Egozi 18.

The Dutch driver Lammers leads OKJ after the successful campaigns in  MINI.

A lot of protagonists came to the fore in OK-Junior. This category counts 30% of the drivers that come from the smaller category, as the winner of last year’s MINI René Lammers (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing-Vega), who is currently leading the provisional classification of OKJ with 3 wins in the heats. The Swiss Enea Frey (Ricky Flynn/LN-Vortex) was also among the quickest. He won 3 heats as the Russian Dmitry Matveev (Koski Motorsport/Tony Kart-Vortex). The Peruvian Andres Cardenas (Energy Corse/Energy-TM Racing) won two heats instead.

Classification of the heats by penalty: 1. Lammers 4; 2. Frey 5; 3. Bondarev 10; 4. Cardenas 12; 5. Matveev 13; 6. Gladysz 16; 7. Go 20; 8. Costa 21.

The Czech Pesl leads the two Italians Sala and Martinese in MINI.

The classification is quite short in MINI, that is still very open and uncertain. Among the drivers coming from 35 nations, the provisional classification is currently led by the Czech Jindrich Pesl (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame-Vega), who won 3 heats and is followed by the Italians Filippo Sala (Team Driver/KR-Iame) and Iacopo Martinese (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame), that respectively won three and two heats. The pole-sitter from Spain Christian Costoya (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing) won 3 heats, but he is only sixth due to a bad result in one heat.

Classification of the heats by penalty: 1. Pesl 6; 2. Sala 8; 3. Martinese 11; 4. Van Langendonck 12; 5. Josseron 12; 6. Costoya 13; 7. Schaufler 16; 8. Bottaro 17.
