The FIA European Championship KZ & KZ2 ends in Adria
From the 12th to the 15th of August the KZ and KZ2 classes will compete in the 2nd and final round of the European Championship on the Adria racetrack, in Italy. After the first positive race for both categories in Wackersdorf, the CRG drivers are ready to fight for the two titles, in a weekend which is announced to be filled with interesting features.
In the premier class, Alex Irlando will be the driver with the best chances after the podium in the German race, but Jeremy Iglesias and Paolo Ippolito will also certainly have the speed to do a great weekend. Jaime Alguersuari’s attendance in the KZ class, who stopped competing before the race in Germany due to a problem with his ribs (from which he is definitely recovering at this time) is still not certain,; the Spaniard will make the decision whether or not to race only at the last minute.
In KZ2, on the other hand, Giacomo Pollini lined up by the team partner NGM will be the driver with the best chance of fighting for the title, thanks to the podium scored in Wackersdorf, but there are also great expectations for Paavo Tonteri and Brandon Nilsson, both in the top ten in the opening race and always very fast on the Adria track.
Jorge Pescador and Lorenzo Giannoni will also be racing with the CRG Official Team, both looking for redemption after the unlucky first round of the Championship, as well as with the NGM team diver Natalia Balbo, who will also look for an important result, to forget the German race when she was not been able to enter the Final.
The weekend program will include free practice on Thursday and qualifying on Friday, while the heats will take place between Saturday and Sunday morning. It should be pointed out that qualifying races will already award the first points, but obviously, the Finals that will take place on Sunday afternoon and broadcast live will be crucial.
CRG drivers’ expectations:
Alex Irlando (KZ): "Since the beginning of the season the team has done a great job and in a few months we have reached the level of our rivals. Alongside the Road Rebel chassis, which for CRG is a reference point in the KZ classes, we have also developed other chassis solutions with 30mm and 30mm/32mm tubes and we believe we will get to this race with a series of solutions that will allow us to be very competitive. It will not be easy because our opponents are very strong and we will have to give 110% from all points of view, but we are very determined and we will all do our best”.
Paavo Tonteri (KZ2): “In Wackersdorf all CRG drivers were fast and this is the most positive result of the work done in the first months of the year, because a joint result shows how competitive our technical equipment is. We will certainly be able to fight in the top ten with the best and the goal for us could be ambitious. Adria is a track that I like and if we get a good result here the whole team will have the right energy to get ready for the World Cup, which will take placeat the beginning of September in Sweden”.
