The 23rd Winter Cup a weekend full of ups and downs for Leonardo Marseglia

A difficult weekend in Lonato for the Ostuni’s driver: Leonardo started the weekend stuck in the traffic during qualifying and it forced him to grab P34 overall out of 70 drivers. He recovered up to P30 after qualifying heats, where he showed a good pace in the first two manches, raced on a dry track, but he had a difficult third manche because of the slippery track and different weather conditions.

In the super heat he, once again, recoverd positions passing from P15 to P12, sitting on grid 24th for the final. Leonardo started the final race on the wrong foot, but he put his head down and started recovering positions. While he was fighting against Coluccio for the 17th place, after a great comeback from P30, his Kart Republic #266 had a technical failure and Leonardo crashed into the barrier. Fortunately he had no physical consequences.

“It has been a really tough race – comments Leonardo - we had a warmer weather until Saturday and in the last two days we had to deal with a humid and slippery track. In the first two qualifying heats I felt comfortable and at my ease, but from Saturday the different climatic conditions disturbed me. Moreover we had the same technical failure on Sunday morning during the warm-up, that didn’t allowed us to find the perfect set up for the super heat and the final. I’m quite happy for the pace showed, but at the same disappointed for the final result. Hope to have Lady Luck by our side in the second round of the WSK Super Master Series!”

Leonardo will back in Lonato in two weeks time for the second round of the WSK Super Master Series.
