FIA Karting: Something special expected in Portugal

With many years of experience organising major FIA Karting events, the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve will host the opening round of the brand new Senior Academy Trophy to be organised over three competitions in 2025. After a successful launch in Spain, the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championships - OK and OK-Junior - will continue at the circuit in southern Portugal for a second meeting that promises plenty of intensity and spectacle from 1st to 4th May. A total of 232 drivers are racing in these three categories at Portimao.

The final afternoon session at Circuit Paul Ricard brought two productive days of pre-season collective testing to a close for the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. Under sunny skies, Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) topped the timesheets with a best lap of 1:57.470, confirming the Japanese driver’s strong form ahead of the championship’s fifth season.

Andy Consani on Pole Position and podium on his single-seater debut

Considered one of the best French kart drivers of his generation, Andy Consani has just made his debut in the FIA-certified French F4 Championship. The youngest driver on the grid made his first-ever start from pole position after a perfectly controlled Qualifying session in difficult rainy conditions. For Andy, the Easter Cup at Nogaro also included a first podium finish, this time on a dry track. It's clear that in 2025, we'll have to watch out for the hopeful chosen by Mercedes-AMG F1 to be part of its development programme for young drivers.

First race and first F4 podium for Sofia Zanfari

Two months after the official announcement of her debut in the FIA-certified French Formula 4 Championship, Sofia Zanfari has just celebrated her very first podium finish. The 18-year-old Moroccan champion has proved her ability to adapt and her budding talent, already spotted during her rise through the karting ranks. After an extremely promising first meeting organised during the Easter Cup at the Nogaro circuit in the south of France, Sofia is already ready to take on new challenges within the prestigious FFSA Academy.
