Super Cup and Formula 4 join the 2023 F1ESTA

The Gran Turismo Mexico (GTM) Super Cup category, as well as the Formula 4 NACAM Championship, will form part of the track action during the Formula 1 Gran Premio De La Ciudad De México 2023 Presented by Heineken, to be held across the weekend of October 27-29 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

"The GTM category proved to be a series full of professionalism, which spread the excitement to the fans who attended the event last year, so keeping it was paramount to make this F1ESTA something bigger and better. Having Formula 4 is a way to contribute to continuing to promote new talent in the region," said Federico González Compeán, General Director of Formula 1 Gran Premio De La Ciudad De México 2023 Presented by Heineken.

In the GTM series, drivers including Mario Domínguez, Jorge Goeters, and Michel Jourdain Jr. will offer their international experience in front of rising stars such as Salvador de Alba, who in addition to leading the championship, is making his way through the ranks in the best formula car series in the United States (USF Pro 2000 Championship).

The GTM cars have 500 horsepower engines, tubular chassis, six-speed sequential transmission and can reach speeds close to 250 km/h at the end of the main straight of the capital's racetrack, making them the ideal series to precede the Formula 1 single-seaters.

In addition, as part of the Mexican Grand Prix's commitment to give visibility to the region's new talent, the Formula 4 NACAM Championship will be included in its weekend program.

With carbon fiber single-seaters built by the French company Mygale, the F4 cars represent the leap from karting to motor racing, as the first step on the ladder to Formula 1. Equipped with a 1.6 L engine, six-speed sequential gearbox (plus reverse), and under all FIA standards, the series has become a hotbed for young talent, with a Latin American field featuring Colombian drivers Pedro Juan Moreno and David Cárdenas, as well as Mexican drivers Cristian Cantú and Marco Alquicira.

The Formula 4 NACAM Championship will hold its season finale in Mexico City and it is expected the Autodrómo Hermanos Rodríguez will celebrate the crowning of the 2023 champion. With so much track action in the last weekend of October, an F1ESTA is guaranteed.
