Shawn Rashid embarks on a new chapter with VRD Racing by Arden for GB3 2024

American Shawn Rashid has confirmed that he will remain in the GB3 Championship in 2024, as he switches to the VRD Racing by Arden team for his second campaign in Britain’s leading single-seater series.

The Atlanta resident made his slicks and wings debut in the category last year after a single season of car racing in the National Formula Ford Championship in 2022, where he was crowned Rookie Champion, following several podiums and two wins, including a dominant heat victory at the world-renowned Formula Ford Festival.

Rashid also showcased his talent with a successful showing at the Walter Hayes Trophy, before transitioning to GB3 in 2023 where he finished strongly with a season-best sixth place at Zandvoort, underlining his adaptability and determination.

Having shown his potential in GB3, he now makes the move to the VRD Racing by Arden squad, with the team initiating a tailored off-season testing programme, fine-tuning his skills for the season ahead. This has included time on track at Monza, Barcelona and the Red Bull Ring, allowing the American driver to gain experience on some of Europe’s most challenging circuits.

Shawn Rashid said: “Last season was tough, but joining the VRD Racing by Arden family has been a breath of fresh air. With the supportive and nurturing environment they've created, I've developed so much with them during winter testing and I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity, and genuinely optimistic about the great things we'll achieve together.

VRD Racing Team Principal Dan Mitchell said: “It’s great to welcome Shawn to the team for the new GB3 season. He’s only heading into his third season of car racing of any sort, so he’s still got a lot of experience to make up compared to his rivals. I think he showed a lot of promise in GB3 last year, and has continued to build on that in testing with us, so should continue that progression throughout the season.”

Garry Horner, Arden Team Principal said: “Shawn fitted in very well with the team during the end of season testing last year and showed some competitive pace. With his previous GB3 experience, we expect him to have a strong showing with the team this year.”
