Bas Kaligis / Wednesday, November 14, 2018 / Categories: WSK Sensational win for Renaudin at Castelletto The second round of the WSK Final Cup again saw a victory for a Sodi in the KZ2 category. After Bas Lammers at Lonato, the young Adrien Renaudin won the event at Castelletto di Branduzzo after a domination that says a lot about the potential of the machine and the driver. During a suspenseful Final, the reigning European Champion caught up with extraordinary mastery, after being compromised at the beginning of the race. That bodes well for his debut with the Sodi Racing Team next year in KZ. The weather was not very pleasant on the circuit of 7 Laghi, but the rain disappeared on Sunday for the Final stages. Entered on a Sodi / TM in the colours of CPB Sport, Adrien Renaudin left little chance for his opponents. From Timed Practice on a slippery track, although drying, he achieved the fastest time in front of his team-mate Ariel Levi (Sodi / TM). Although he was happy with 2nd position in the first heat, Adrien adapted perfectly to the progressively increasing grip to take two wins and to top the standings on Saturday night with a clear advantage and a fastest lap in the race to conclude the day. A favourite in the 125cc gearbox category, Adrien won the Prefinal on Sunday morning with a new fastest time and a consistent lead over his rivals. The Final appeared to be going well after a completely controlled start when Adrien suddenly found himself in 6th position: "I made a mistake by getting too wide in a corner," admits the CPB Sport driver. "It was all my fault!" With a gap of more than 3.5'' to the leader on the second lap, the situation was bad. However, Adrien used all the resources of his Sodi chassis and TM Racing engine to reduce his deficit and pass his opponents one by one. After looking impossible, the feat became more and more real. With successive fastest times, he returned to the leader and overcame his resistance on the penultimate lap to sensationally win the Final “I wanted above all to make up for my mistake at the start of the race. The equipment was very good: CPB Sport and Sodi deserved this success, so I went for it. I am still competing with CPB Sport, the team that I was with for my international success, before joining the official Sodi team in KZ next year. As I took the lead of the WSK Final Cup standings, I would like to be able to give them the victory in Adria in two weeks." In view of the current overall performance of Sodi chassis, Adrien's wish could well be granted!
