Sebastian Gravlund moves up into Eurocup-3 with MP Motorsport

Talented Danish youngster Sebastian Gravlund will remain with MP Motorsport for his promotion to the brand new Eurocup-3 series. The 18-year-old Team Denmark member hopes to build on his experience gained with MP in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship.

After a late-2021 run of podium-scoring races in the Danish Formula 4 Championship, Gravlund signed up with MP Motorsport for a maiden season in single-seaters that resulted in a promising tally of points-scoring finishes in Spanish F4 while a parallel programme in Danish F4 led to Gravlund becoming the vice-champion.

For only his second full season in single-seaters, the young Dane now aims to build on his first-year experience by moving up into Eurocup-3, the new stepping stone in between Formula 4, the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) and FIA Formula 3. Gravlund will join his countryman Sebastian Øgaard and Mexican José ‘Joss’ Garfias in a four-car line-up, with one more driver still to be announced.

“Staying with MP for my promotion to Eurocup-3 is great news”, said Gravlund. “In 2022, I have really come to enjoy MP’s professionalism within a family atmosphere, and I’m looking forward to putting a familiar team environment to good use as I set off on my next challenge. Eurocup-3 is an exciting prospect for me, moving up another step on the single-seater ladder to Formula 1. I can’t wait to get started!”

“I’m really pleased that Sebastian will be part of our line-up for the inaugural season of the new series”, said MP Motorsport’s team principal Sander Dorsman. “We are certain that the promise he showed with us in Spanish F4 will translate into some excellent results in Eurocup-3. With our two Danish Sebastians joining Joss, we definitely look strong for 2023.”

Before stepping up to single-seaters, Gravlund raced in his national karting championship as a cadet before moving onto the international scene in 2017, first at 60 Mini level, then up to OK Juniors in 2018. The last three seasons Gravlund competed at OK level, taking part in WSK’s Euro Series and Super Master Series as well as the CIK-FIA World and European Karting Championships, in which the Dane scored several top finishes.
