Sebastian Øgaard first to sign up for Eurocup-3 with MP Motorsport

Danish youngster Sebastian Øgaard is the first driver to hook up with MP Motorsport for an assault on the inaugural Eurocup-3 series. The Dutch outfit is one of the teams providing cars for this new stepping stone in between Formula 4, the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA) and FIA Formula 3.

Øgaard has already been acquainted with his new team by competing in selected rounds of the Formula Regional Middle East Championship (FRMEC) currently running in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, the extra track time helping the 19-year-old from Ejstrupholm prepare for his full-season campaign in the newly created and highly anticipated Eurocup-3 series.

“Signing up with MP Motorsport for the first season of Eurocup-3 is an important step in my single-seater career”, said Øgaard. “They are one of the biggest teams around in the various feeder series to Formula One, and I’m certain their experience will help me in my development as a driver. We already worked well together in FRMEC, and that gives me the confidence to go for glory in Eurocup-3.”

“We are happy to welcome Sebastian to our Eurocup-3 team”, said MP’s team principal Sander Dorsman. “He briefly drove for us in 2019, and two years ago he was one of our strongest adversaries in the Spanish F4 Championship. We’ve always kept an eye on him since. His speed has never been in doubt, so we look forward to teaming up with him for a strong challenge in our first season in Eurocup-3.”

Combining karts and single-seaters in 2019, Øgaard did part programs in the Danish and Spanish F4 championships, racing for MP Motorsport in the latter. Staying in the Danish series for 2020, Øgaard took third in the final standings despite missing a round while also competing in selected races in the Italian championship. Returning to Spanish F4 in 2021, the Danish youngster completed a strong campaign as the series runner-up, before dividing his time between Euroformula Open and FRECA in 2022.
