Schumacher CLRT Racing Team wins Monaco Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race
All the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup meetings are prestigious, but the one which takes place in the streets of the Principality of Monaco is always a bit different. Even if the setting had changed since Imola's victory remained in the Schumacher CLRT Racing Team’s camp. Larry ten Voorde won again and the team's three 911 GT3 Cups finished in the points with Marvin Klein seeing the flag in fifth place and Alessandro Ghiretti in eighth.
Ten Voorde made his score two out of two, without having to overtake anyone because he started from pole, set the fastest lap in the race and led from lights out to flag at Monaco!
It is also interesting to take a look at some statistics. Before the season started the Schumacher CLRT Racing Team had already one victory in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup to its name thanks to Marvin Klein. After two races in 2024, the team's track record reads three times as many! So far, no fastest lap in free practice, qualifying or the race has escaped the #12 Porsche. However, the season is long as it comprises eight rounds and we've only reached the end of the first quarter. But it cannot be denied that the Schumacher CLRT Racing Team and its “Flying Dutchman” have got this year’s campaign off to a great start.
Klein started from fifth place on the grid where he finished at the end of the 17-lap race scoring another solid result after his podium at Imola. He takes stock of a (short) trip which left him wanting more: “In absolute terms, it’s not catastrophic, but I’m not fully satisfied with my qualifying performance. This is a key moment which greatly influences the outcome of the race. In Monaco I was fairly satisfied with my feeling in free practice on a drying track, a little less so in qualifying and I was not able to sufficiently improve my time on my second set of tyres. P5 was not where I wanted to be because we had the potential to break into the Top 3. I'm a little disappointed because Monaco is very close to home and all my partners are from the region. I know that to win in the Supercup you have to get everything right, feel totally comfortable and that’s how I feel. I'm not worrying, I'm working towards achieving it, and I can't wait for the next rendezvous at the Red Bull Ring!”
Ghiretti opened his score in Monte Carlo. The 2024 Porsche Motorsport Junior driver also finished where he started, in eighth place. He too is impatient to be in Austria from 28th to 30th June after a detour to Belgium the previous week for a race counting towards the Porsche Carrera Cup France, which he leads.
The Schumacher CLRT Racing Team will be at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend 1-2 June for the Alpine Elf Cup Series!
