Mitchell Koolen / Thursday, July 9, 2020 / Categories: News, Rotax Rotax Racing CKT Round #1 The Colorado Karting Tour finally kicked-off its season in the COVID-19 effected year at the beautiful Grand Junction Motor Speedway facility. The GJMS facility has played host to several high profile events in its day as the facility offers a picturesque and challenging circuit which did not disappoint at the opening CKT event. The series event went off without an issue and the competition was fierce with over 130 entries who all battled mixed weather conditions. “The series kicked off with the new Rotax MY20 Micro and Mini categories and the ease of use and parity was really amazing to see. We had a trouble free event and the young drivers loved the power of the MY20 package where the Mini drivers topped 65 mph! In fact, Mini winner Parker DeLong utilized his engine from 2016 (never rebuilt since purchased) DeLong mounted an MY20 upgrade kit at the track and took off, thus showing the parity, speed and cost-effectiveness of the new MY20 program” — Justin Stefani The Jr. Max field also had great competition with a four-way battle for the top spot throughout the heat races and final. The final came down to a photo finish at the line for the win with what can be described as nothing less than a spectacular race. In addition to the great racing and positive outlook the following awards were handed out in the Micro, Mini and Jr. Max categories provided by J3 Competition. 1st Place – Paid Entry to US Grand Nationals 2nd Place – $100 Voucher 3rd Place – $50 Voucher Previous Article WSK Euro Series kicked off in Sarno Next Article Live timing WSK Euro Series Round 1 in Sarno Print 1916 Rate this article: No rating Tags: Covid-19Rotax Racing CKTColorado Karting TourGrand Junction Motor Speedway Comments Please login or register to post comments.
