Rotax E20 becomes the first ever E-Powertrain to get CIK-FIA approval

The history-making CIK-FIA Approval of the Rotax E-Powertrain is fundamental for BRP-Rotax, who remains at the forefront of shaping the future of electric kart racing with the E20 E-Kart. To receive such recognition only emphasises that ongoing development of the electric technology is leading the field of quality sustainable options within the industry.

The ultimate experience of driving the Rotax E20 with its incredible acceleration – from 0 to 100 km/hr in 3.5 seconds – high speed and unparalleled consistent power during the entire race, offers a competitive alternative. Every driver says the Boost feature is amazing, delivering extra power for more strategic racing.

Now with full international status, the RMC Euro Trophy E20 Series is significantly aligned with the mainstream combustion Rotax 125 MAX Evo Engine categories at the highest level. Having CIK-FIA Approval additionally enables the E-Kart classes to be well positioned within the RMC championships in the Rotax network, with unmatched parity and pure simplicity for competitors.

The RMC Euro Trophy E-Kart championship will be contested over three rounds, in Germany and Italy, in two classes. The E20 Senior and E20 Masters will crown the 2024 champions and award an RMC Grand Finals ticket in the Rotax Senior MAX category for the E20 Senior winner. The remaining E20 Senior podium place-getters and the E20 Masters champion will receive their E-Kart tickets for the headline Rotax event at Circuito Internazionale Napoli on October 19-26.

The E20 Tour this year will see RMCGF 2024 invitation tickets being awarded in every E-Kart series for the Rotax season highlight event taking place in Sarno, Italy. There are opportunities to test the Rotax E20 as well in Europe, which is a must for anyone eager to get behind the wheel.

“The CIK-FIA Approval of the Rotax E20 E-Powertrain for E-Kart is something we at BRP-Rotax are extremely excited about”, said Peter Oelsinger, General Manager BRP-Rotax / Member of the Management Board, Vice President Sales, Marketing RPS-Business & Communications. “We realise the importance of ensuring our range of products are offering our global customers the expected quality, unrivalled parity and best environmental options, both now and in future. To receive CIK-FIA Approval for the Rotax E20 series at the RMC Euro Trophy also reconfirms our advancement in more sustainable technology at international level competition in karting.”

"We are pleased to have the E20 categories in the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy lineup”, said Luca De Donno, President of WSK Promotion. “The 100% electric concept represents a significant step forward in karting competitions and lays the groundwork for a greener future for our sport.”
