Rotax British Kart classes ready for 2021 season

Motorsport UK, organisers of the British Kart Championships and JAG engineering, the UK distributer for Rotax, have today announced the calendar for 2021. The schedule has been designed to meet preferences indicated from recent surveys among the Rotax drivers and takes into account the current COVID-19 restrictions.

Rotax drivers and teams will launch their 2021 season in late April at the popular Glan-y-Gors (GYG) circuit in north Wales, before making their way to Devon and the Mansell Raceway for round two in June. Following the summer break, the championship heads to the midlands for round three at Whilton Mill on the August Bank Holiday weekend. The series will then return to the popular Warden Law track in September before the grand finale at the world-renowned PFI in October, where the 2021 champions will be crowned.

Once again, the 2021 British Kart Championship for Rotax will be open to Mini, Junior, Senior and 177 classes.

JAG will be in attendance at every round this season and can confirm that every champion will once again represent the UK at the famous Rotax Max Grand Finals.

Motorsport UK Kart Manager Dan Parker commented: “We are delighted to announce the Rotax Championship calendar for 2021. We have worked closely with JAG and its stakeholders to create the new calendar and new formats, which are in line with the feedback we have received from the competitors and teams following the 2020 season. The racing last year was as close as ever, with most of the championships going down to the wire at the last round, and we expect more of the same this season.

“With the ongoing COVID-19 situation, safety remains our number one priority. We are set to begin  the new season after Easter, and we will continue to monitor the guidelines around the UK and we will continue to put appropriate measures in place at each venue we visit.”

JAG, the Official UK Rotax distributor commented: “ In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we at JAG are pleased to see that due diligence has been taken to arrange the calendar in the best way possible for everyone concerned in 2021.

“Deciding the calendar for this year has not been taken lightly, and following constructive discussions with Motorsport UK, we are set to start the season after the Easter Bank Holiday.

“When we do get back up and running again, we are looking forward to seeing both Mansell Raceway and GYG back on the calendar after a year’s hiatus, with some great racing in prospect.”

Registration for the championship will be frozen at the 2020 cost of £250, with event entries costing £199 per round or £299 for doubleheader events, while Alpha Live are also confirmed for another season for comprehensive live streaming of each race meeting.

Registrations will open in early February. Please note that spaces are limited in each class and that race numbers are issued on a first come first-served basis.
