The 17-year-old Italian racer will enter the brand-new Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine, featuring cars built by Tatuus and powered by the French manufacturer. The series will race on 10 of the best venues in Europe. In 2020, Rosso left a strong impression in the Italian Formula 4 Championship. He amassed three wins, a total of five podium finishes, two pole positions and one fastest lap. His results handed him seventh place in the overall classification. Rosso and FA Racing had the chance to test together in the final weeks of 2020 and the agreement for the upcoming Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine came as a natural consequence. FA Racing stands for Fernando Alonso, who is involved with the Dutch-based operation and provides his initials as a signature. Driving for Alpine in Formula 1, the Spanish champion has deep ties with the Regional European championship. Alonso had kind words for Rosso, and had no doubt in bringing him into the team. The inaugural round of the season will be on the April 25th weekend at Spa-Francorchamps. The Belgian opener will be followed by two rounds supporting the Formula 1 World Championship at Barcelona and at the iconic Monte Carlo circuit. The latter will mark a completely new experience for Andrea, who has never driven on a street course before. More European outings will come at Le Castellet (France), Zandvoort (The Netherlands), Nurburgring (Germany) and Spielberg (Austria). An Italian trifecta will wrap up the year between Imola, Mugello and Monza, hosting the season finale on October the 31st. Two races will be held over the weekend, preceded by two free practice sessions and two qualifying sessions, each setting the field for one race. Andrea Rosso “I’m really excited to take part in the Formula Regional European championship by Alpine together with FA Racing this season. It’s a great step in my career as well as a big opportunity given me by the team. I’m sure that with hard work, consistency and dedication, we can achieve great results! I’m really looking forward to the start of the season that will kick off next week in Imola for the official test days. I’d like to thank from the heart all the people who made this possible, in particular my family, my sponsors and my management.” Previous Article Australian Kart Championship: Top level kart racing returns to Melbourne this weekend Next Article The WSK Super Master Series is in La Conca for its second round Print 1206 Rate this article: No rating Tags: Andrea RossoFernando AlonsoFA RacingTatuusFormula Regional European Championship by Alpine Comments Please login or register to post comments.
