Rogeon completes Rodin’s Super Sunday in Hungary with Maiden GB3 Victory in race three
Rodin Motorsport’s Arthur Rogeon claimed his first GB3 Championship race victory in the final race of the weekend at the Hungaroring. The French driver started second on the grid, but passed pole-sitter Josh Irfan at turn two on the first lap and marched into the distance, earning his team’s second win of the day with a margin of over five seconds.
Irfan and Rogeon were equally matched on the run to the first corner, with Rogeon opting for the inside line, though Irfan just about held on to his advantage by going around the outside and using the runoff. The pair continued their wheel-to-wheel battle on the run to turn two, with Rogeon again going around the outside and completing the move on the inside of turn three.
From there he was able to stretch his lead comfortably, finally claiming his first GB3 triumph after cruelly missing out at Oulton Park. Irfan claimed second place for his first GB3 podium, while Elite’s Jarrod Waberski claimed the final step on the podium with third, his second rostrum in 2024.
Fourth for Louis Sharp was enough for the New Zealander to claim the championship lead as the title battle reached its midway point. His strong result and trouble for pre-event championship leader Tymek Kucharczyk, who had to pit with a broken wing, and eighth place for pre-race leader Will Macintyre, ensures the New Zealander leaves Hungary back on top of the standings.
Patrick Heuzenroeder completed his best GB3 weekend with a strong run to fifth for JHR Developments, ahead of the second Rodin of James Hedley, who enjoyed a race-long scrap with the third JHR machine of John Bennett, who took seventh. Macintyre was next up in eighth and ahead of Elite Motorsport duo McKenzy Cresswell and Hugo Schwarze who completed the top-10.
