Richard Mille Young Talent Academy to enter Spanish F4 Championship from 2022

The prestigious watch manufacturer Richard Mille, with an established presence in Motorsport, will partner with MP Motorsport in a young driver development project that will start in the 2022 season and which will run until 2024. As its first driver, the Dutch team racing in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship that has won the team title five times, will welcome 15-year-old Tymoteusz Kucharczyk from Poland, who was awarded as the winner of the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy 2021 after its final phase held at the Circuito de Navarra on October 12 – 13.

Twelve go-kart drivers, previously selected in September and coming from all over the world, met at the Spanish track to be evaluated during both days in both psycho-technical and driving aspects. Under the responsibility of Italian company Formula Medicine, the drivers underwent physical and mental performance tests at the circuit’s facilities. Afterwards, they received vehicle dynamics lessons about the Tatuus F4-T014 from the MP Motorsport engineers, and finally, they familiarized themselves with the track both through video and with a track walk to inspect every detail of the track.

On the second day the drivers, divided into two groups, completed four 20-minute runs in the morning to decide which six drivers would continue to fight for the prize in the afternoon session, which consisted of two more sessions and a final one for the three most complete drivers for the jury. Tymoteusz Kucharczyk, Martinius Stenshorne and Oscar Targett battled it out in a competitive qualifying simulation session with a second set of new tyres to get the most out of the car. After a long deliberation in which all stages of the selection process were taken into account, Kucharczyk was proclaimed the winner of the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy 2021 and will thus receive the opportunity to drive for MP Motorsport in the 2022 Spanish Formula 4 Championship season.

Tymoteusz Kucharczyk, winner of the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy 2021: “I am thrilled. I am speechless. Making the leap from go-karts to single-seaters is always an important and complicated step, but the hard work of these years gave me the opportunity to be able to participate in this event. I have given my best in each of the stages, always listening the advices to improve and, moreover, I have had fun with all my colleagues and rivals. I thank Richard Mille and MP Motorsport for their trust in me for next season and I promise to make the most of this opportunity, so I’ll keep working hard, not only on the track, but also outside being a great student at school”

Sander Dorsman, Team Principal at MP Motorsport: “We are very proud to partner with Richard Mille, a legendary brand that has already done so much for motorsport. The Richard Mille Young Talent Academy provides an outstanding platform for young drivers to accomplish their dream of reaching the pinnacle of motorsport. This has always been MP Motorsport’s goal as well. We welcome Tymoteusz as the new scholar in the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy. His raw talent is beyond doubt, and in his first season in F4 we will do everything to further hone it on his way to progressing further up the ladder”.

Amanda Mille, Brand & Partnership Director at Richard Mille: “We are really happy to have done our shoot out in the circuit of Navarra and  for our next season and first in the Spanish Championship. The results of our young drivers have been showing the level of the next generation of F4, very talented drivers.
