Registration for third season of DEKM starts - Champion receives test day in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport

In 2020, the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM) is already starting into its third season and offering numerous highlights again. All five racing events are going to take place in Germany this time. The DEKM is going to start in Wackersdorf twice. Due to a new E-kart by technical partner BRP-Rotax, the participants can look forward to more power and longer race durations.

The registration for the third season of the innovative racing series is going to start on Wednesday, January 15th at 12:00 pm. The DEKM started as the world’s first electric kart racing series in 2018 and has gained a regular place now – drivers from more than 10 nations participated in the races in the last two years.

New E-Kart provides better race-feeling

BRP-Rotax presented its new electric kart „Project E20“ within the 2019 Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals. The successor of the Rotax THUNDeR was independently developed by the Austrian manufacturer. The E-kart is going to be used in the German Electric Kart Championship in the 2020 season. “The Project E20 was developed by drivers for drivers”, said Peter Ölsinger, General Manager BRP-Rotax and vice president Sales, Marketing RPS-Business & Communications. “We’re excited to use the new E-kart “Project E20” in the third DEKM-season already with our partner BRP-Rotax. More power, longer race durations and less weight promise even more race-feeling”, adds Oliver Schielein, manager of the DEKM-promoter IKmedia.

The prototype of the new E-kart is going to be presented from January 25th – 26th at the booth of the DMSB (booth A1-14) at the international kart fair in Offenbach on the Main.

Compact racing calendar with five events in Germany

The DEKM is going to stick with the usual extent of five races in this season as well. Five events spread over Germany await the participants. The drivers are going to go through an extensive program on Saturday and Sunday, consisting of free training, qualifying, pre-final and final. The DEKM is going to take place four times within the framework of the German Kart Championship (DKM). The kick-off is going to happen on the Schweppermannring in Ampfing from May 8th – 10th. After that, the events are going to be in Wackersdorf (June 5th – 7th), Kerpen (July 17th – 19th) and the new ArenaE in Mülsen (August 28th -30th). Only a week after the event in Saxony, the season finale of the DEKM is going to take place. As usual, it is going to leave the framework of the DKM and is going to take place at the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy in Wackersdorf this time. “It’s great to start within the framework of the RMCET with our technical partner BRP Rotax. A new surrounding makes the DEKM even more attractive and makes us known to new kart racing fans”, Oliver Schielein comments on the choice of the final.

Promotion for the champion including test day in GT4-vehicle

Porsche Motorsport is partner of the German Electric Kart Championship for the third year as well and is going to support the champion in their race driver development with several training programs. Additionally the champion is going to receive a test day in a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport. “The strong partners of the DEKM are an important part of the success of the championship. I’m really excited that together with Allied-Racing we’re able to offer the champion a test day in a Porsche racing vehicle for the first time this year”, Oliver Schielein adds.

Online-registration on DEKM-website

Registration for the German Electric Kart Championship is going to be as uncomplicated as before and can be done via an online form, which can be accessed on the website www.dekm.de.
