Record-breaking F4 champion Alex Dunne graduates to GB3 with Hitech GP

Hitech Grand Prix has confirmed that its reigning British F4 champion Alex Dunne will race with the team in the 2023 GB3 Championship.  The Irish driver spent this year contesting dual campaigns in the British and Italian F4 Championships. He claimed British title honours with the Silverstone-based team in a record-breaking season that saw him rack up eleven wins, six further podium finishes, and five pole positions, whilst he was the championship runner-up in Italy. Dunne's British F4 victory tally saw him eclipse the previous benchmark for the category (eight) set by now McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris back in 2015.  Dunne also contested the F4 UAE Championship with Hitech earlier in the year, taking a double victory and establishing himself as a consistent front-runner in the series.  The 17-year-old driver had competed part-time in both the Spanish and German F4 Championships during 2021, claiming three podiums and consistently collecting points in the races. He now looks towards a strong season with Hitech as he progresses up the ranks to GB3.  Alex Dunne said: "I’m very happy to continue with Hitech in GB3 for 2023. We had an incredible year together winning British F4 and breaking the record for the most wins in a season. I've really enjoyed working with Hitech so I look forward to achieving more great things together." Phil Blow, Hitech’s GB3 Team Manager said: "We’re excited for Alex to join us in the GB3 Championship after an impressive campaign in British F4 this year. We tested with him at Snetterton a few weeks ago and he made steady progress throughout the day - he went nearly a second quicker than the pole time for that year! We're looking forward to seeing him progress as he makes the step up to GB3." The 2023 GB3 Championship is set to commence next April with the first round taking place at Oulton Park in the UK. Four of the eight rounds will take place on current Formula 1 circuits, with two events on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, plus visits to Zandvoort and Spa-Francorchamps.  The Hitech squad is looking to add to its success from 2022, where they claimed both the team’s and driver’s championship titles, with Luke Browning triumphing at the Donington Park final round decider.  For more championship information visit www.gb-3.net
