Rafa Camara wins the Pole Position in the first race of the year + Livestream Race 1

Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine first qualifying of the year is done, Rafael Camara is the fastest on the track of Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari of Imola and gains the pole position for the first race of 2023 with his best lap this morning in group A. The Brazilian Ferrari Driver Academy of Prema Racing stops the clock at 1’39.130. Though session with very strict gaps between the drivers, the Norwegian debutant Martinius Stenshorne showed all his speed by following extremely closely this morning under Imola’s sun: his best lap was only 3 milliseconds slower than the leader. P3 in the first group on the track today went to Spaniard Lorenzo Fluxa, Prema Racing, that signed a gap of 0.168; followed by the very quick German of R-ace GP, Tim Tramnitz, at 0.283, and Alessandro Giusti, G4 Racing, with 0.499.

Group B took it to the track after a 5 minutes break, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Mercedes junior driver of Prema Racing, set the best lap in the second half of the session with 1’39.303. Santiago Ramos, RPM, followed the Italian with a gap of 0.138, both obtained very positive output despite the track getting dirtier with some of the drivers excursing into gravel.  P3 in group B went to the Dutchman of Van Amersfoort Racing, Kas Haverkort, with a gap of 0.372. Trident’s Singaporean driver Nikhil Bohra come in fourth with 0.419, followed by Josh Dufek, Van Amersfoort Racing, that closed the top 5 with a 0.464 gap.

Now starts the wait for Race 1. The first great battle of the season will be on the track of Imola at 16.20 today (local time), and will last 30 minutes + 1 lap. Sunday the second and last qualifying session (Group B 9.00 – 9.15; Group A 9.20 – 9.35) will precede Race 2 (14.35, 30 minutes + 1 lap). Qualifying and race sessions aired live on the official Youtube and Facebook pages @formularegionaleubyalpine.

The Grandstands Start 1 (Ex A) and Start 3 (Ex I) will be open to the public on April 21,22 and 23. The access is free of charge.
