Miguel Costa in the top 10 of the world's karting elite
Miguel Costa continues to be a revelation. After finishing his final Junior year with some brilliant performances, he has made a particularly promising start to the 2023 season. His determination to join the OK category alongside the top hopefuls of international karting, when he had not yet celebrated his 14th birthday, and his decision to join the Parolin Motorsport team to achieve his objectives have been validated by some very high-level performances. The young Brazilian hopeful has just scored back-to-back top 10 finishes in the FIA Karting European Championship. And Miguel has no intention of stopping there…
Ever since he decided to give 100% to the demanding world of motorsport, Miguel Costa has shown incredible determination. Over the years, his progress has never stopped. The young driver has undeniable talent and has repeatedly demonstrated his speed on the track, as well as his consistency. Naturally calm, Miguel knows that he needs to develop many other skills to achieve the success he aspires to, for which he works very hard. "Whether it's during my physical preparation, on the simulator between races or when I'm on a circuit, I'm focused on everything that revolves around my sporting career," admits Miguel, more motivated than ever. "I have a lot of willpower, but I also know how to control my emotions so that I can always give my best. This gives me a lot of confidence and I realise that this has become even more important since I moved up from the OK-Junior to the OK-Senior category.”
An excellent synergy with Parolin Motorsport
The first races of the 2023 season have allowed Miguel to reassure himself of his competitiveness. It was definitely the FIA Karting European OK Championship that confirmed his potential. "After learning a lot during the two years I spent with Dino Chiesa and the Kart Republic factory, I found the Parolin Motorsport team an ideal working environment. I have to admit that the first round of the Championship at Valencia in Spain in March wasn't easy because of a Qualifying session that didn't live up to my expectations. But I felt it was only a matter of time. From the following event in May at Trinec in the Czech Republic, I was fighting in the leading group.”
There were 80 drivers at the start and Miguel Costa climbed back up to 9th place in the Final with a faultless performance throughout the meeting, while showing himself to be very solid in the pack. From 16th to 18th June on the brand new Rodby circuit in Denmark, the Brazilian hopeful did even better. "We did a lot of fine-tuning, particularly in preparation for the Qualifying session. I finished 2nd in my group, which put me in 6th place! I didn't pass up the opportunity to start on the front row in all the heats and I gave it everything I had to stay in the leading group.”
A convincing 7th place, full of promise
In the heats, he finished successively P5, P4, P3, P4, and even P2 with the best lap in the race, before confirming his position with a Super Heat in 3rd position, showing himself to be faster than the drivers ahead of him. In the Final, he was running in a magnificent 5th position, when a driver tamped him down on the outside of the track, causing him to lose a further two places. He subsequently regained a place and crossed the finish line in a brilliant 7th position. In Denmark, Miguel Costa was the youngest driver in the top 10 and the second-best rookie in the category!
"I'd like to sincerely thank the Parolin Motorsport team and its manager Marco Parolin for believing in me. The advice of team coach Lorenzo Travisanutto, a two-time World Champion driver, was invaluable, as was the help of my mechanic Raffaele Polise. The Parolin chassis proved to be very effective, as did the TM Kart engines from GFR Engines," concluded Miguel.
