Maranello Kart and Griggio win the KZ3 Over Italian Championship

Cristian Griggio was crowned KZ3 Over Italian Champion in Castelletto di Branduzzo taking two podiums in the finals. Among the quickest, Andrea Spagni won Race2 and Christoph Hold put in a great race in KZ2.

Maranello Kart claimed a very good result in the closing round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship at the Circuit 7 Laghi in Castelletto di Branduzzo, as Cristian Griggio secured the KZ3 Over Italian title. The driver from Padova had a perfect weekend on Maranello-TM and won the Italian Championship thanks to two excellent performances in the finals.

Griggio displayed a great competitiveness in this closing act of the Italian Championship in Castelletto di Branduzzo, that was the decisive moment in the title quest after the two rounds of La Conca and Val Vibrata. Griggio has been quick since the beginning. He posted the pole position time and won both qualifying heats, before clinching the Italian title with the victory in Race1 and the second place in Race2 behind team mate Andrea Spagni.

Spagni’s performance was quite impressive as he came back on track with Maranello Kart assisted by Team Oracle and was very competitive since the beginning. He was the brilliant winner of the second final at the end of a great comeback race following the incident in one heat. Positive performances were also put in by Attilio Borghi and Gianni Corti in KZ3 Over, that managed to finish both finals in the top ten.

In KZ2, the Austrian driver Christoph Hold was eighth in Race1 and put in a good Race2. In the latter he started from the front row and kept the lead for the whole race until the chequered flag. A penalty due to a slight jumping of the start stripped the Austrian from a deserved win though and relegated him to P10. Hold run a solid race nevertheless.

Mattia Giannini has been particularly unlucky in KZ3 Junior as he was handed a 10s time penalty in both finals for jumping the start after being sixth in qualifying. In Race1 this cost Giannini the eighth position taken at the chequered flag, and denied him a podium in Race2.

Michael Dalle Stelle was not very lucky either in KZ3 Under. He could not show his best in the two finals due to a tough qualifying, but managed to close in the top ten.

The next on track appointment for Maranello Kart is the 28th Autumn Trophy in Lonato next September 29-30.
