Leonardo Marseglia concluded a positive World Championship in Kristianstad
Kart Republic’s Leonardo Marseglia concluded the CIK-FIA World Championship in the top 20 out of 102 drivers.
The World Championship is a race on its own, the longest weekend of the year. Leonardo Marseglia arrived in Sweden, Kristianstad, looking for a rematch after a bitter European Championship. The weekend started well, but then Lady Luck turned her back once again.
On Friday Leonardo qualified 21st and then classified 9th and 5th in the first two heats. The following day he took another 5th in the first heat, but he didn’t take part to the second one because of a technical failure. This problem ruined his weekend. Leonardo never let it destroy his spirit and he fought hard to take home other two P8 in the remaining two heats, grabbing the 25th spot on the final grid.
In the final, right after the start, he had a small problem to his engine that slowed him into the pack. Leonardo managed to stay out of contacts and started recovering positions lap after lap. Under the chequered flag he was 21st, but thanks to penalties and a disqualification he recovered up to 17th.
"It’s hard to swallow, without the technical problem in the fourth manche I’d have been in the first half of grid for the final and it would have been a completely different race! Also that little problem at the start of the final ruined my plans, but in the end I’m ok because I gave all myself! I’d to congratulate to Lorenzo for his win, he deserved. I take the occasion to thank all the KR team, Dino Chiesa, my sponsors and my family for the amazing support throughout the weekend! Let’s see what the future holds for me!”
