LeCont Tyres - Performances, confirmations and revelations with LeCont in Lonato

LeCont has concluded its second full year of official partnership with WSK Promotion with satisfaction and pride. Throughout the 10 events of the 2022 season, the Italian manufacturer has guaranteed consistent, high-performance tyres for competitors in the OK category and in KZ2 in the Euro Series. The success of the second and final round of the WSK Final Cup held in Lonato confirmed the effectiveness of Italian tyres, with a new lap record in OK. Newly promoted Juniors took advantage of this final event to reveal themselves, and the 2023 season will be even more exciting...

In Lonato, the WSK Final Cup started with a time of 45"570 set by Danish driver David Walther during the first official Free Practice on Friday. South Garda Karting has a new record in the OK category! This performance reflects LeCont's advanced karting tyre technology and is a few tenths faster than the Open Cup held at the beginning of October and four tenths faster than the best time set in July by another manufacturer at the WSK Euro Series. Even more than the absolute performance and the record speed, drivers and teams above all praised the consistency of the LeCont tyres, which was seen throughout the meeting.

Victory for Matveev, title for Turney
David Walther confirmed his speed by taking pole position in Timed Practice ahead of four drivers who were still competing in the World Junior Championship in September: Thomas Strauven, Anatoly Khavalkin, Nathan Tye and Dmitry Matveev. Proof of how quickly these young revelations adapted to the characteristics of the OK engines and LeCont "Prime" tyres! Joe Turney then took the measure of his opponents at the end of the heats and Super Heats, before securing 2nd place in the Final, synonymous with the WSK Final Cup title. The win went to Dmitry Matveev, while Evan Giltaire completed the final podium of the WSK Promotion season.

Good prospects
"Just like our performance in other FIA Karting competitions and in many countries around the world, the 2022 season in the WSK series has been extremely positive for LeCont," commented Marketing Manager Paolo Bombara. "This year again, the teams were able to work in excellent conditions, especially during the WSK Final Cup. In Lonato, the event brought together a magnificent field of 48 drivers, confirming the appeal of this type of competition. We are confident that our collaboration with WSK Promotion will continue. I can only underline the quality and attractiveness of the prestigious events organised by Luca De Donno and his team. New categories and circuits will be introduced in 2023, which should further enhance the success of the Italian promoter's races. The outlook is good for the future and LeCont can only be pleased."

LeCont highlights that its Spanish importer, Rodakart, is organising the second edition of the "LeCont Trophy" on December 3rd and 4th, 2022 in the Mini IAME, X30 Junior, X30, OK-Junior, OK and KZ categories, under the auspices of the Real Federación Española de Automovilismo. The event will take place at the Lucas Guerrero circuit in Valencia, where the first round of the 2023 FIA European Karting Championship - OK & OK-Junior will take place.
