LeCont Tyres - New international recognition for LeCont

For the first time in its history, LeCont was a partner of the famous Winter Cup, which celebrated its 25th edition. In Lonato, the Italian manufacturer's tyres fulfilled their mission perfectly for the 84 drivers competing in OK-Junior. In 2020, LeCont has also been chosen by the new Champions of the Future by RGMMC series (both in OK Junior and OK), as well as by WSK Promotion to equip the OK category for the next WSK Euro Series. The season promises to be intense for LeCont, which will be celebrating its tenth consecutive year in the FIA Karting Championships with the supply of the OK-Junior tyres to the European Championship, as well as to OK to the
European and World Championships!

Thanks to high quality products, as well as a service that is unanimously recognised and appreciated by drivers and teams alike. LeCont is preparing for a landmark season, with an full and exciting sporting programme. Paolo Bombara, Marketing Manager at LeCont, is looking forward to this, while remaining focused on satisfying his partners and the users of the Italian tyres. "2020 will certainly be very important for LeCont for many reasons. First of all, the Winter Cup is an extremely  prestigious event on the international calendar and we are very proud to be part of it. It gives the brand additional awareness. The LeCont factory is located less than an hour away and it was very important for us to be part of this adventure. LeCont has an excellent relationship with the Corberi family, who run the circuit, and frequently visit the track for testing."

A record pole position in OK-Junior!

On the South Garda Karting in Lonato, the OK-Junior category put on a great show. With less than three laps to go, the Norwegian Martinius Stenshorne got the better of one of the revelations of the day, the Briton Freddie Slater. And it wasn't until the very last few corners that the hierarchy finally settled down. Poleman Tymoteusz Kucharczyk and Italian Brando Badoer came very close to reclaiming the coveted 3rd place, which went to Britain's Arvin Lindblad.

Throughout the Free and Timed Practice sessions, the 12 Qualifying Heats and the Final, the LeCont SVB "option" tyres gave complete satisfaction in terms of performance, consistency and longevity. This year, the fastest pole position in the history of the Winter Cup was achieved since the arrival of OK-Junior in 2016. The  time was 48"491 last year and 47"818 in 2020 with Alex Powell. This was confirmed in the Final, with a time of 48"337 against 48"730 in 2019. But above all, the times were very good in the last heats. Some drivers were still lapping in 48"2 on Sunday morning.

A growing reputation

Strongly involved in many championships for years, the tyre manufacturer has welcomed the recent choice by WSK Promotion with great satisfaction. "Luca De Donno is always very careful and rigorous in his choice of partners and it is rewarding for LeCont to supply the OK category in the WSK Euro Series in 2020," continued Paolo Bombara. "Drivers and teams will use the same tyres as in the European Championship. This will also be the case in the new Champions of the Future series organised by RGMMC, both in OK and OK-Junior. This is obviously the consequence of the FIA Karting tender that we won in both categories. The important research and  development work we have carried out is bearing fruit, and the quality and performance of our tyres are up to scratch."

After the success of the Winter Cup at Lonato and the numerous testimonials of satisfaction from the participants, LeCont wishes an excellent sporting season to every kart racer in 2020.
