Kas Haverkort triumphs on the first round of the year

The Dutchman took the 3 victories in the inaugural test of the 2020 Formula 4 season at the Circuit de Navarra. It has been an atypical racing weekend in the non-sports, the new normality implies some changes in the development of the competition and in all the activity that surrounds it. The security measures have left us a podium without the delivery of trophies, the pilots left with the prize already in their hands and, of course, with a mask.

For most of the pilots it was a “first time” weekend. Participating in the Formula 4 Championship meant competing for the first time in a single-seater and adapting to a work system aimed at professionalization. Except Ivan Nosov and Carles Martínez who already ran here last year.

The veterans were off the podium in all three races, unable to demonstrate that extra experience. In addition, Martínez could not finish the third race due to a touch with Nosov himself.

The undisputed leader of the weekend was Kas Haverkort (MP Motorsport) who did not get off the top of the podium. Regardless of the starting grid position, the Dutchman has dominated every race from start to finish.
He was closely followed by his teammate Oliver Goethe who also did not get off the podium. He started the season with a third place on Saturday and went one step further on Sunday with following second place in both races of the day.

It was a practically perfect weekend for the MP Motosport as its drivers have occupied 5 of the 6 possible podium positions between the two days of the race. It was the Spanish Mari Boya who took second place in the first race and Joshua Dufek was in charge of closing the podium with a third position in the last race.

The only driver from a different team who managed to sneak into the MP Motorsport was Lorenzo Fluxà (Global Racing Service) who was third in the second race.
