Kart CRG: KZ and KZ2 European titles to be awarded in Sarno this weekend

The CRG Racing Team and Jeremy Iglesias will be in the spotlight next weekend in Sarno, where is scheduled the 2nd and last round of the FIA European Championship - KZ & KZ2. In fact, the French driver won the Final of the 1st Round on the Zuera track in the KZ category in Spain and will get to the decisive appointment in Sarno, sitting just 2 points behind Senna Van Walstijn who, thanks to a better score in the Qualifying stages in Spain, leads the provisional standings with 72 points. Danilo Albanese is in P3 with 50 points, but barring major twists and turns, the fight for the title seems limited to Iglesias and Van Walstijn and every point up for grabs on the Sarno track will be decisive. CRG has prepared this appointment in the best possible way by taking a podium with Iglesias just 10 days ago on the same track of Sarno in the WSK Open Series, a race that all the teams have used to fine-tune the chassis and engine setups in view of the decisive round of the European Championship.

In the KZ top class CRG will also line-up the current World Champion Viktor Gustafsson and the winner of the last season’s KZ2 World Cup Arthur Carbonnel, who will certainly be able to give support to his teammate, should the situation arise. A total of 34 drivers will compete in the KZ category, therefore the qualifying races and the Super Heat will be in a single group, with all the big names who will compete several times before the Final. On the other hand, there will be almost 100 drivers in KZ2 where CRG will line-up 8 drivers, including Jorge Pescador with the Kalì Kart colours. The Spaniard himself, who had reached the podium in the 1st round in Spain, will be among the drivers with the greatest ambitions in KZ2 and will try to climb the general classification which currently sees him in P7 with 39 points. After the excellent performance in the recent WSK Open Series, Brandon Nilsson also has great ambitions and openly aims for the top ten, like Paavo Tonteri, always very fast on the Campanian track. Bruno Mulders, who missed Spain due to an injury, will also make his comeback to Sarno and the CRG line-up will be completed by Adrian Malheiro, Andrea Bosetto and the brothers Filip and Jakub Wojcik.

The event program will respect the FIA format with Free Practice on Thursday, while Qualifying Practice and the first Heats will take place on Friday, which will then continue throughout the day on Saturday. The Super Heats will take place on the final day of Sunday and will define the starting grids for the Finals scheduled for the afternoon. From Friday on Live Timing will be active on the official website of the Federation (www.fiakarting.com), while on Saturday and Sunday it will be possible to follow the action on the track also through the Live Streaming.

CRG drivers’ expectations:

Jeremy Iglesias (KZ): “Being 2 points behind the leader of the Championship standings is a minimum gap, so basically whoever does better overall in this race will be the Champion and it won't be possible to make any kind of calculation or strategy, other than aiming to win and also score points in the qualifying stages. We are very confident after the excellent performance we had here 15 days ago in the WSK race, but obviously we will have to make no mistakes at all and keep our concentration high at every stage of the weekend”.

Viktor Gustafsson (KZ): “The race 15 days ago was not lucky, but it gave us a lot of useful data to prepare this weekend in the best possible way and starting from Free Practice we will have to do a very precise job to get 100% from our chassis-engine package. I'm working hard to be in my best mental and physical shape at this stage of the season, in order to prepare for the World Championship in September as well. From this point of view, a positive result would be very important and I will give my best to achieve this goal”.
