Bart Luijkx / Monday, May 24, 2021 / Categories: News, Singleseater JD Motorsport keeps improving in Monte Carlo The third round of the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine hasn’t been an easy one for JD Motorsport. The Italian outfit fielded its two rookie drivers at the iconic Monte Carlo street circuit aware of the challenge ahead. Both Eduardo Barrichello and Tommy Smith qualified for Sunday’s main race of the weekend, but Smith saw his race come to an abrupt end after just one corner. The Australian was rear-ended by another driver after he had to back off to avoid a crash in front of him. Barrichello managed to continue the race, recovering from the tenth row on the grid to P15 overall and P9 in the rookie standings. Smith and Barrichello will be back on board their JD Motorsport cars next weekend for round 4 of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine at Circuit Paul Ricard. The French venue already hosted two days of testing in April.
