Javier Sagrera on board with MP Motorsport for second-year Eurocup-3 assault

Spanish racer Javier Sagrera has joined MP Motorsport for a second year in the fledgling Eurocup-3 series. The 20-year-old from Torroella de Montgrí aims to improve on the run of podiums that he achieved in 2023.

Sagrera’s switch to MP Motorsport comes after a competitive first year in Eurocup-3 in which Sagrera delivered a season-best second place at Monza and backed that up with third at Spa in his first weekend in the series and another third later in the year at Jérez. Combining those podiums with strong points in many other races of the eight-round season, Sagrera ended up eighth in the final standings. With MP, the youngster hopes to challenge for wins in 2024, as he joins Bruno Del Pino, Emmo Fittipaldi, and Owen Tangavelou in the team’s strong four-car line-up.

“I’m really pleased to team up with MP for my second attempt at the Eurocup-3 series”, said Sagrera. “In 2023, I’ve laid a strong foundation for a renewed challenge this year, and I feel I’m ready to fight at the front. MP is a team that knows their stuff and has been building winning cars for decades now. I’m looking forward to stepping into one of those and show the world what I’m capable of.”

“We are proud to have Javier on board for our Eurocup-3 team of 2024”, said MP Motorsport’s team principal, Sander Dorsman. “As our adversary in 2023, Javier drove a strong season, with the podium in his debut weekend particularly impressing me. Building on his experience in the series, I’m sure he will be a strong asset who will bring home the results on every race day. With Bruno, Emmo, Owen and Javier, our Eurocup-3 line-up is looking exceptionally strong. I can’t wait to go racing with them!”

Besides his main Eurocup-3 campaign, Sagrera acquainted himself with MP Motorsport by doing a part programme with the Dutch team in two rounds of last year’s Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. In 2021 and 2022, Sagrera was a challenger in the GB3 Championship, claiming podiums in both seasons. He made his single-seater debut in Spanish F4 towards the end of 2019 after finishing his karting career in the KZ2 category.
