Japanese youngster Kanato Le joins Chris Dittmann Racing at Spa

Chris Dittmann Racing has confirmed that Kanato Le will join the team for this weekend’s (1/2 June) GB3 Championship races at Spa-Francorchamps.

The 16-year-old Japanese racer has already bagged plenty of experience despite his young age, managing the transition from karts – where he finished second in the 2020 IAME Euro Series and the 2021 IAME Winter Series – to cars with ease.

Moving to Europe, he started at 14 in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2022, scoring two wins, five podiums, and one pole position as he ended as the Rookie runner-up. He switched to single-seaters at the end of that year, adding a drive in F4 UAE and taking a second place at Yas Marina F1 support race.

After contesting the full F4 UAE campaign early in 2023, he joined the F4 British Championship, scoring two wins, four podiums, and recording four fastest laps. This year Kanato is contesting the full Formula Regional European Championship and took part in the final two rounds of the Middle East equivalent in February.

Further bolstering his race, car, and circuit experience, the teenager will tackle the first of three European visits for the GB3 Championship, at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps, where the series headlines the annual Spa Euro Race event.

Kanato Le said: "I’m very excited to be joining the Chris Dittmann Racing team this weekend at Spa. It will be my first time competing in the GB3 Championship, so I want to thank the team for this opportunity. It will be challenging but I’m eager to learn and confident we will be able to make the most of our time together."

Chris Dittmann, Team Owner said: “We’re very happy to welcome Kanato to the team for the GB3 Championship races at Spa-Francorchamps. He's shown he is a talented driver from karting through his transition to single-seater racing, so we’re looking forward to working with him through the weekend and helping continue his learning and experience.”

Dan Hodder, Hitech Academy said: “We are pleased to have Kanato compete alongside our regular Hitech Academy drivers, Flynn and Seb as we look towards Spa this weekend for round three of the GB3 Championship. “His track experience and inputs will be received well within in the team, and we look forward to a strong weekend with Chris Dittmann Racing.”
