Hedley leads third Zandvoort GB3 practice, Voisin quickest overall on friday

Arden VRD’s James Hedley topped the times in another rain-affected free practice session at Zandvoort this afternoon, but it was Rodin Carlin’s Callum Voisin who ended the day quickest overall courtesy of his time in the drier second practice session.

Hedley’s best effort of 1m42.429s came on his third from last tour of the Dutch Grand Prix venue, as track conditions slowly improved throughout the 45 minutes. His time of 1m42.429s put him three tenths of a second clear of the field, and ensured that Arden VRD topped two of the three sessions held today. JHR’s Matthew Rees was second fastest, just 0.030s clear of Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Alex Dunne, with Fortec’s Max Esterson fourth and three tenths of a second further behind.

Session once pace setter Nico Christodoulou was fifth ahead of Rodin Carlin’s John Bennett and Hitech’s Souta Arao, who topped the times briefly early on. Championship leader Voisin was eighth fastest in session three, but his session two effort proved the quickest overall, with Oliver Stewart (Elite) and Zak Taylor (Chris Dittmann Racing) completing the session three top-10.

On the combined time sheets for the day, 23 of the 25 drivers entered for this weekend’s event set their best time in the second session, with CDR’s Arthur Rogeon and Fortec's Jarrod Waberski the only exceptions. Voisin time of 1m32.167s put him two tenths ahead of Elite’s McKenzy Cresswell and Hitech’s Alex Dunne.

The field returns to action tomorrow for qualifying at 09.00 local time (08.00 UK), ahead of the first two races of the event.
