Great protagonist shining in Lonato’s opener of the 30th Spring Trophy

A record number of 321 drivers coming from 23 different Countries gathered at the South Garda Karting circuit in Lonato for the first round of the 30th Spring Trophy. Closing round on March 30-31st.  The South Garda Karting circuit of Lonato housed the first round of the 30th Spring Trophy in the weekend of March 17th. The event that will reach its conclusion next March 30-31st 2019 had a good drivers presence so far.

A total of 321 drivers coming from 23 Countries got on track on March 17th for the opener of this trophy: 173 drivers in the national categories KZ2, KZN Under, KZN Over (36+ years), 60 Mini, Entry-Level, 140 in the IAME Series Italy Trophy and 8 in KFA historic karts in category H20 100 cc with liquid cooling. Organization of this intense racing weekend has been perfect.

The final victory in KZ2 went to William Lanzeni (Vemme-TM-Vega), who has been dominating the category since qualifying practice. Lanzeni led the Final from lights to flag and proceeded at the flag Massimo Dante (Maranello-TM-Vega) and Marco Tormen (Praga-TM-Vega).

In KZN Under (up to 35 years), Roberto Cesari (Top Kart-TM-Vega) won the Final leading Marco Vannini (Maranello-TM-Vega). Both drivers have been shining in qualifying stages too. The third step of the podium went to Matteo Dondi (Intrepid-TM-Vega).

In KZN Over (36+ years), Riccardo Nalon (Parolin-TM-Vega) claimed the victory after he managed to get past Roberto Profico (Tony Kart-TM-Vega), who led the race early on. Marco Pagani (Parolin-TM-Vega) crossed the finish line in second place but was later on handed a 10s time penalty that relegated him to the seventh place. The second place was therefore inherited by  Profico, while Alessandro Zanoni (KR-TM-Vega) was third and led Cristian Griggio (Maranello-TM-Vega), who bounced back from the back of the pack.

The young driver from Singapore Akshay Bohra (Parolin-TM-Vega) dominated 60 Mini’s Final after posting the quickest time in qualifying. The podium was rounded off by two young foreign drivers: the Swede Joel Bergstrom and Kiano Blum, also on Parolin.

Elia Zuin (Formula K-TM-Vega) won Entry level proceeding Eric Vranceanu (IPK-Lke-Vega) and led Giacomo Giusto (TBKart-Lke-Vega).

Regarding KFA H20 100 cc with liquid cooling, the historic karts category was dominated by Massimo Aceto (Dap-Italsistem-Vega), who won the Final from Andrea Pozzobon (Intrepid-TM-Vega) to Alberto Gnudi (PCR-Power-Vega).

The races, valid for the opener of the IAME Series Italy Trophy, have been very exciting and hard-fought in the four entitled categories: X30 Mini, X30 Junior, X30 Senior and X30 Master. The sprint to the line saw the victory of  X30 Mini going to Sebastiano Pavan (Parolin-Iame-Komet), who crossed the finish line as the first, but was later on handed a 3s time penalty that relegated him to P3. The victory went therefore to Daniele D’Urso (BirelArt-Iame-Komet), who pipped Andrea Pirovano (Parolin-Iame-Komet) by 0.064s only.

X30 Junior was characterized by a nice duel between Cristian Bertuca (BirelArt-Iame-Komet) and Andrea Barbieri (TBKart-Iame-Komet). The leading duo exchanged positions several times, but in the end, Bertuca came out as the winner, while Barbieri crossed the finish line just over a second adrift. Federico Rossi (Tony Kart-Iame-Komet) was third.

A nice battle has also been fought in X30 Senior and Edoardo Ludovico Villa (TBKart-Iame-Komet) eventually managed to claim the win from Danny Carenini (CRG-Iame-Komet) to Vittorio Maria Russo (Tony Kart-Iame-Komet), as the latter two completed the podium after winning the fight with Leonardo Caglioni (KR-Iame-Komet), who was fourth.

Gianni Zani (BirelArt-Iame-Komet) dominated X30 Master winning from the Pole Adrian Marcinkiewicz (Kosmic-Iame-Komet), while Alessandro Pandolfi (Top Kart-Iame-Komet) was third. A veteran of the category, Tino Donadei (Evokart-Iame-Komet), was also among the quickest and closed his effort with a good fourth place.
