German Electric Kart Championship starts in Ampfing

With the fourth racing weekend (October 4th – 6th) of the German Electric Kart Championship on the Schweppermannring in Ampfing, a premiere awaits the first electric kart racing series in the world. For the first time, the championship is going to take place on the race track in Upper Bavaria.

Is there going to be a change at the top?

The DEKM is starting into the hot phase of the fight for the title with the next-to-last event of 2019. After a four-time victory of Jasin Ferati in Belgian Genk, the field at the top has moved considerably closer together. Currently, Luka Wlömer is leading the overall list of rankings with 186 points, but his pursuers are close behind. First and foremost Swiss Ferati: He is only 22 points behind the German. His four-time success in Genk gives him even more motivation: “I was the first driver to win all four races this year. Now I want to tie in with this”, he says highly motivated. Joel Sturm on third place also still lies in waiting – he is 46 points behind the leading driver.

DEKM-premiere in Ampfing

Contrary to the first three races in Wackersdorf, Kerpen and Genk, the DEKM is going to enter unknown territory on the 1.063m long track in Bavarian Ampfing. The racing series with the unified Rotax THUNDeR e-karts is going to start there for the first time and therefore, none of the drivers can profit from previous experiences. Narrow fights for positions can be expected again. During the course of the year, the DEKM already provided multiple spectacular photo finishes.

Australian-German guest drivers

After his barnstorming debut in Genk, youngster Finn Gehrsitz is going to start in Ampfing as well. The young Baden-Württemberg resident  already caused quite a stir with his third and fourth places in Genk. The second guest driver Ryan Mills from Australia has the farthest journey this time. He is the first participant from Down Under in the German Electric Kart Championship.

Last start within the framework of the German Kart Championship 2019

The event in Ampfing is also the last event of the season taking place within the framework of the German Kart Championship 2019. As usual, the drivers are going to complete two free trainings, qualifying and two races on Saturday and Sunday. All events are going to be broadcast live at www.dekm.de via online-stream again. The big season finale is going to take place three weeks later in Sarno, together with the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals. The new DEKM Champion 2019 is definitely going to be declared in Italy.
