GB3: Kucharczyk splashes to top spot in wet second session

Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Tymek Kucharczyk topped the times in the final test session of the week at Zandvoort on Friday afternoon, which was heavily rain affected.

The Polish driver’s best time of 1m42.848s put him just one-thousandth of a second clear of Elite Motorsport’s Hugo Schwarze, with the German driver one of three contenders to bring out the red flags during the 45-minute test, with a late off. Kucharczyk’s teammate Gerrard Xie was third fastest and within a tenth of a second of the outright pace.

The second Elite car of McKenzy Cresswell was fourth quickest and only just over a tenth away from top spot, while Hitech’s Will Macintyre enjoyed improved form in the wet conditions with the fifth quickest time. JHR’s John Bennett completed the top-six, which was covered by less than two-tenths of a second, and despite being the second driver to cause a red flag with an off into the gravel.

Championship leader Louis Sharp was seventh quickest this time around for Rodin Motorsport, a couple of tenths clear of Elite’s Jarrod Waberski, with James Hedley (Rodin) and Colin Queen (Fortec) completing the top-10, which was covered by less than a second. Each driver recorded their best times of the day in the dry opening session, meaning Sharp heads into qualifying at 08.00 local time tomorrow as the fastest driver of the week.
