GB3 Championship confirms 2024 calendar, including maiden visit to Hungaroring

The GB3 Championship, partnered by the BRDC, has confirmed an eight-round, 24 race calendar for its 2024 season, with the notable addition of the Hungaroring for the first time.

More than half of the season’s events will now take place on current F1 layouts, with five race weekends taking place at contemporary Grand Prix venues.

Oulton Park will again host the season-opening round over Easter weekend on 30 March – 1 April, before GB3 heads to the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on 27/28 April, with both events co-headlining with the Intelligent Money British GT Championship and running alongside the GB4 Championship.

The series then heads to Europe for the next three rounds, starting with the traditional visit to Spa-Francorchamps on 1/2 June, forming part of the Spa Euro Race for the second successive year. The first Hungarian visit follows on 22/23 June, alongside the International GT Open package, before returning to Zandvoort, this time on 13-14 July, as part of the Zandvoort Summer Trophy event.

A return to Silverstone with MotorSport Vision Racing on 27/28 July completes a run of five successive events at current Grand Prix venues.

The season ends with the re-joining of the British GT package, courtesy of events at Donington Park (7/8 September) and the season finale on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit (28/29 September).

During the European segment, teams will be able to make use of MSV’s Laon Autodrome facility as a re-preparation base, if required, and a comprehensive programme of official test days will be held throughout the year.

MSV Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer said: “GB3’s calendar for 2024 is exceptionally strong, with five of the eight rounds taking place on contemporary F1 circuits, including Hungary for the first time.

“The championship has a proven track record for producing stars in FIA F3 and other categories, and I’m delighted our 2021 champion Zak O’Sullivan will make his FP1 debut in Abu Dhabi with Williams this weekend. The outstanding performance of last year’s champion Luke Browning and 2023 runner-up Alex Dunne at the Macau Grand Prix is yet more evidence of GB3’s quality.

“GB3 has become the compelling choice for young aspiring F1 drivers at this level of racing, and I expect very high demand for seats once again, following our record grids in 2023.”
