First senior race and a first victory already for David Cosma-Cristofor

Every year for many years now, the Naples International Circuit in Sarno has honoured the memory of Ayrton Senna by organising a high-level trophy in the name of the three-time Formula 1 World Champion who left an indelible mark on the history of motor sport. For this event, David Cosma-Cristofor decided to bid farewell to the Junior category where the Romanian hopeful had been competing since the spring of 2022, in order to make his debut in the Senior category. This first experience ended with a masterful victory despite the changing and difficult weather conditions.

After a year in which he achieved a number of remarkable feats, David Cosma-Cristofor had every intention of finishing his 2023 season on a high. However, he had a difficult task ahead of him with a commitment to the IAME Brand Cup in the X30 Senior class. Turning his back on the 12-14 year-old class, the Gulstar Racing driver had to contend with more experienced opponents. But once again, his determination worked miracles. Regularly among the fastest in Free Practice, he took pole position, then won his two Qualifying Heats, including one with the fastest lap, in both cases on a dry track.

Fast in the dry and in the rain

On Sunday, the weather turned rainy at the foot of the famous Vesuvius volcano. On a very slippery track, David started the day with the fastest time in the warm-up. In the first Final, the race was hotly contested, but the Romanian managed to make the difference as the laps went by, again proving to be the fastest driver on the track at the wheel of his KR-IAME.

The second and last Final was even more difficult. But the 14-year-old Romanian managed to avoid all the pitfalls that confronted him, to win the 28th edition of the prestigious Ayrton Senna Trophy in both Finals. Once again, his hard work and effort paid off. David made perfect use of the power of his engine in the Senior category and the 'Prime' tyres, which offered even more grip than he had in Junior. There's no doubt that the young Romanian is ready to shine in 2024 in the Senior class, as his rapid adaptation to his new category and this victory to round off the season showed.

"I'd like to thank the entire Gulstar Racing team for its work, the Kart Republic factory, DFR Engines for the engines, Cetilar Racing, the International School of Bucharest for its support and all my partners: One United Properties, Black Fire, Miko Med, Miko Dental, Miko Beauty and Urban Automobile," added David.
