Bas Kaligis / Thursday, January 18, 2024 / Categories: Singleseater F4 runner-up Will Macintyre steps up to GB3 with Hitech Pulse-Eight Hitech Pulse-Eight has confirmed that its British F4 runner-up, Will Macintyre, will graduate to the GB3 Championship with the team in 2024. In his first full campaign of single-seaters last year, the British driver was a winner at Thruxton and Knockhill with the Silverstone-based squad, and secured 12 additional podium finishes. He finished just 13 points behind the eventual champion, having kept the title battle alive all the way to the final race of the season at Brands Hatch. Macintyre was also among the final 10 nominees for the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award, and has been inducted into the BRDC Rising Stars programme. His successful British F4 stint followed a front-running campaign in the 2022 Ginetta Junior Championship, also finishing as the runner-up, having contested the Winter Series in 2021. In all, he took six victories, 15 podiums and claimed the Rookie title, before making his single-seater debut in the final round of the 2022 GB4 Championship, earning two second places. His karting career began in 2017, and Macintyre has earned several accolades over the years, including being the only Briton to have won the Italian Championship title in the 60 Mini category (in 2019). He was the IAME Nations Cup Champion and Vice Champion in the WSK Euro Series, and also finished third in the Rotax Max Challenge International Trophy and the IAME Winter Cup in 2021. Will Macintyre said: “GB3 is the logical next step for my second season in single-seaters. I went into my maiden British F4 season hoping for a top-five finish as part of a two-year plan. To have been one of only two drivers able to win the title in the last race was therefore a huge achievement and Hitech played a huge part in my development in 2023. “I really enjoy working with the team and can’t wait to begin with them on this step-up earlier than planned. There are new tracks and a new car to learn which is great, and despite the competition level, I hope that I can be challenging for podiums and wins again in 2024. I’d like to give a big thank you to my sponsors and Hitech Pulse-Eight and hope to make the team proud again.” Team Manager Phil Blow said: “We are delighted for Will Macintyre to rejoin the team for 2024 as he makes his step up to GB3. Will has proved himself to be a fantastic championship contender over recent years, particularly in British F4. With his proven track record of podiums and wins, we are confident we can achieve strong results together in the coming year and look forward to fighting for the top step.” For more championship information visit www.gb-3.net.
