F4 race winner Josh Irfan joins Teams’ Champion JHR Developments for GB3 graduation

JHR Developments has confirmed that Formula 4 race winner Josh Irfan will join the team for the 2024 GB3 Championship season.

The 15-year-old made his single-seater debut last year and impressed in the F4 British Championship, scoring overall wins at the Silverstone and Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuits, and adding six Rookie victories en route to third in those standings.

Josh also claimed a podium in the GB4 Championship at Oulton Park, and finished in the top five on four occasions, despite competing in just a handful of events.

Prior to that, the youngster enjoyed a strong karting career, which included success in the Trofeo Andrea Margutti, and Trofeo Delle Industrie, winning the British Kartmasters Grand Prix, and clinching third in the WSK Champions Cup and Italian OKJ Championship.

The teenager has already familiarised himself with the team, having taken part in several test days, and after more pre-season mileage, will be aiming to add to his successes, with the JHR Developments outfit which took the GB3 Teams’ Championship title in 2023.

Josh Irfan said: “I am super excited for the year ahead, joining the GB3 Championship with JHR Developments. The series uses a fantastic car and I feel like I have managed to adapt to it quickly in testing. JHR is a top team and I have gelled well with everyone I’ve worked with so far.

“No doubt it’s going to be a very strong grid this year, but I feel I am in the best possible place to help me fight for podiums and hopefully be in the mix for the championship come the end of the year.”

Team Principal Steven Hunter said: “We’re delighted to welcome Josh to the team this season. He got up to speed quickly when he started testing with us and is working hard now to be ready for when the season begins. We’ll be putting in the effort too, helping him grow and develop throughout the season so he has the best chance of success possible.”
