Evan Giltaire sets the pace in the first Collective Test at the Red Bull Ring

Friday’s action in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine once again began under rain, though the conditions were lighter compared to yesterday. However, the drivers still had to take to the track on wet surfaces.

In these conditions, it was rookie Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) who set the fastest time, clocking a 1’40″265. The French driver led his compatriot and teammate Alessandro Giusti, who, under the Williams Academy banner, is showing great comfort on the wet curves of the Austrian track, where he set the fastest time in yesterday’s two Pre Event Collective Tests. Rafael Camara (Prema Racing) recorded the third-fastest time, in a weekend where the Ferrari Driver Academy talent could secure a significant advantage in the title race, following an impressive season where he has already claimed six victories and seven pole positions.

The fourth-best time of the morning went to Brando Badoer (Van Amersfoort Racing), who was followed in fifth and sixth by Ugo Ugochukwu (Prema Racing) and Noah Strømsted (RPM). Once again, James Wharton (Prema Racing) put in a strong performance, finishing ahead of Théophile Naël (Sainteloc Racing) and Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing), with Valerio Rinicella (MP Motorsport) rounding out the top 10.
