DKM Anniversary season includes five events

The current season of the German Kart Championship ended only a few days ago in Ampfing, Bavaria, now, the highest German kart racing series already presents its racing calendar for its anniversary year. The DKM took place for the first time in 1962 and has since produced numerous talents.

After two interesting years due to the corona pandemic, the German Kart Championship is looking forward to the anniversary year with great joy. In 2022, the DKM will take place for the 60th time, making it one of the oldest kart racing series in the world – Werner Ihle was the first driver ever to win the DKM in 1962.  In the coming year, the DKM program with its predicates will once again include five racing events in Germany and Belgium.

It is slowly becoming a tradition that the Erftlandring in Kerpen opens the season of the German Kart Championship. For the third time in a row, the starting signal will be given on the traditional track in Erftland. From April 1st to 3rd, the drivers will be guests in the birthplace of Michael Schumacher and Co.

For the second round, the DKM will remain in the west and travels to Genk in Belgium from June 8th to 10th. Located in the border triangle, the racetrack has also been part of the regular program for many years and is the DKM's only foreign guest appearance. The halfway point of the season takes place in mid-July (15.-17.07.) at the Schweppermannring in Ampfing.

The decisions in the predicate series of the German Kart Championship are made in Mülsen and Wackersdorf. From August 12th to 14th, the championship will return to Mülsen. In 2021, the 1,315-meter-long track was represented in the DKM race calendar for the first time and offered a great backdrop. The highlight comes at the end: The top international tracks in Wackersdorf round up the racing season at the end of September (23.-25.09.).

"2022 will be a very special year for the DKM. Our racing series takes place for the 60th time. This is a great honor, there are only a few racing series worldwide that have such consistency.  When selecting the dates, it was important to us that we had no overlaps with the major international and national series. We have succeeded in this and support the attractiveness of the DKM.  Once again, we are accompanying all race events extensively in the live stream and social media," says DKM series coordinator Stefan Wagner, looking forward to the new season.

Online entries will start as usual in January on the website www.kart-dm.de.
