DAMS Lucas Oil selected to join Formula 3

DAMS Lucas Oil is delighted to announce that the team has been selected to compete in the FIA Formula 3 Championship from the 2025 season, for the next three years, pending FIA approval.

The Le Mans-based squad has a long-standing and rich history in motorsport, stretching back over the last 30 years, winning 31 international titles and earning 173 victories across 15 different championships. The team started competing in International Formula 3000 during the 1989 campaign, and since then has been ever-present in Formula 1 support series. During this time, they have helped 33 racers turn their F1 dreams into a reality, including current drivers Alex Albon, Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz and Kevin Magnussen. The three drivers for the 2025 championship will be announced in due course.

Charles Pic, Team owner said: “We’re thrilled to have been selected to enter a Formula 3 team from next season for the next three years. This is a logical step for us as we’re already competing in F2, and this latest endeavour means we can develop younger drivers from our F3 programme into our F2 team, using systems we have put in place to support and train drivers on the technical side.

“The main objective of this first campaign is to develop a competitive car, like we’ve done in F2 this year. Starting the championship with the arrival of a brand-new car is great timing, as we can reuse our methods that we’ve developed over the years. We’ve put together a very experienced technical team with proven engineers alongside good mechanics, so I’m confident we can deliver strong performances in Formula 3 over the coming seasons and be a contender at the front of the field.”
