CRG to attend the WSK Open Cup in Adria with 10 drivers
From 29th September to 3rd October, the Adria racetrack will host the 2nd and final Round of the WSK Open Cup, an event that will be attended by the usual classes competing in the WSK Series: the Mini, the OKJ, the OK and the KZ category.
The CRG Racing Team will line up a total of 10 drivers with the largest group in the Mini, where there will also be the absolute debut of the Austrian driver Emilio Bernd, who will join Luviwe Sambudla, Ilie Tristan Crisan and Enzo Rujugiro. The driver from Panama Sebastian Ng has been confirmed in OKJ alongside Gerasim Skulanov, while in OK it will be Ksenia Phoenix who will defend the CRG colors. At this time also three drivers of the KZ team will be fighting on the track: Jeremy Iglesias and Alex Irlando, with the direct support of the TM Factory and Paavo Tonteri, with the engines of Gianfranco Galiffa.
After the announcement made by the FIA that the OK and OKJ World Championship will take place in Spain at the end of the month, the Adria race becomes the last competitive appointment for the direct drive classes, before leaving for the most important event of the year. This round will therefore be useful to get some feedback on the forces in the field and define the latest technical choices. But the KZ weekend will also be very interesting, with all the big names on the track and in the minds of the CRG men, there still be the beautiful memory of the European Championship race, which took place on the Venetian track in August.
It is worth saying that in the WSK events VEGA is the sole tire supplier in all categories and this factor will be the only important difference compared to the OK and OKJ World Championships, where the unique supplier is MG.
The race program will be the usual one with the first intense day scheduled for Friday, when qualifying practice and the first heats are scheduled. The Finals will take place on Sunday and will all be broadcast with live streaming. All information on the event is available on the official website: www.wskarting.it
Drivers’ expectations:
Alex Irlando (KZ): “We had a season with some ups and downs and our potential didn't always emerge in the right way. The goal of this weekend will be to fight for the podium, but at the same time we need to have some feedback from the track on some technical solutions that we will use on the 2022 chassis. I really can’t wait to race and I hope to have a positive weekend".
Gerasim Skulanov (OKJ): “October will be really busy and all our work will be finalized to prepare for the World Championship. The best way to get closer to this appointment will be by getting a good result here. We know we have the speed to make a good race and I will have to make fewer mistakes than in the previous races to be able to fight with the best”.
