CRG positive trend continues in KZ
Last weekend the Sarno track hosted the last round of the WSK Open Series, an event where the top KZ category came under the spotlight: all drivers and teams protagonists of the international races, took part in the race in this class to prepare for the next round of the FIA European Championship, which will be hosted by the Italian track. Over 80 drivers and all the official teams got on the track in Sarno and for the CRG Racing Team it was yet another confirmation of the competitiveness of the CRG-TM combination, but also of the excellent form of Jeremy Iglesias who, after the victory in the 1st Round of the European Championship in Spain, confirmed himself among the fastest drivers on the track by conquering P1 after the Heats and the Pole Position for the Final, after the Pre Finals on Sunday morning. During his Qualifying path, the French driver completed an intense work program to prepare for the European Championship race and provided excellent feedback, both on the chassis and on the TM engines prepared and managed on track by Gianfranco Galiffa. In the Final Iglesias was surprised at the start by Paolo Ippolito who started alongside him from the 1st row and subsequently he also gave the position to Stan Pex, however conquering a positive podium with a very good race pace. Iglesias confirmed the solidity of his performances in his overall weekend and can certainly look to the next round of the European Championship with great optimism.
A great job was also done by Brandon Nilsson, who finished P11 and just missed the top ten after being fast in every stage of the event. The weekend of Viktor Gustavsson, Arthur Carbonnel, Paavo Tonteri and Jakub and Filip Wojcik was more complicated, as they did a good technical job even though they didn't get a significant result.
For the drivers of the KZ category the next few months will be worth an entire season, in fact, after the 2nd and final Round of the FIA European Championship in Sarno in July, it will be time to prepare for the FIA World Championship which will take place in early September in Germany . From this point of view, the work done in Sarno by the team will be precious and CRG will certainly once again play a leading role in these important events.
CRG drivers’ post-race reactions:
Jeremy Iglesias: “We have once again had the confirmation that we have a winning chassis-engine technical package and that we can look to the next FIA events with great optimism. Our goal this weekend was to evaluate some technical solutions in view of the next European Championship race and we had excellent feedback from this point of view. In the Final there was a lack of pace in the middle of the race after being certainly very fast in the first laps. Probably with a better start I could have managed the tires better, but this aspect counts for little. The overall balance of the weekend counts more and we are very satisfied".
Brandon Nilsson: “It was a good weekend in general: I started from P16 on the grid and finished P11 with a good race pace. In all phases of the weekend I was fast and from a technical point of view we completed all the work we had planned. I have to work on some mistakes I have made, but considering the very high level of this race, I am satisfied with the result and with the overall performance".
