Chip Ganassi Racing, PNC Bank Announce 2024 Women In Motorsports Internship Class
Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) has selected their class of interns for the third year of Women In Motorsports Powered by PNC Bank. The initiative was launched in 2022 to help inspire the next generation of engineers, mechanics, and other career pathways in motorsports, and is the latest collaboration between CGR and PNC Bank, building on a relationship which began in 2013.
Three students will receive fully-funded internships that provide valuable exposure within the professional motorsports industry. They will receive hands-on experience and mentorship, operating alongside team leaders that have led the organization to 22 championships over its history. While fully integrated into CGR’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES teams, including six-time champion Scott Dixon and the No. 9 PNC Bank crew, their projects will range from engine builds and electronic design to race day duties and performance modifications, as a launchpad toward a career in motorsports.
The more than two-month internship starts May 28 and will see the interns travel with the team to select races during the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. After reviewing over 150 qualified applications, the following three applicants were selected:
The 2024 Intern Class:
- Lucy Anderson, Indianapolis; Elmhurst University, Data Analysis
- Erin David, Avon Lake, OH; Ohio State University, Fitness
- Ali Jensen, Austin, TX; University of Texas at Austin, Engineering
PNC Bank and CGR plan to open the 2025 application window on or around Sept. 1, 2024. Interested applicants can learn more and apply in the coming months at ChipGanassiRacing.com/WIM. CGR has already leveraged the talent introduced by the initiative, bringing former interns on board full-time within the team's engineering division.
Chip Ganassi, owner of Chip Ganassi Racing: “We’re extremely proud to continue providing more opportunities in our sport to some of the brightest young students. Programs like this help to inspire the next generation of young talent into this sport that we are all so passionate about. Throughout the partnership that we enjoyed with PNC, we have created many programs together, but this program has become one of my favorites because we are not only providing an opportunity to these students, but I also believe these students are bringing fresh perspectives to our organization.”
