BMW M2 Cup becomes partner of the DKM - Test drives for Champions of the DSKM and DSKC
After a long wait, the new BMW M2 Cup started last weekend on the Lausitzring into its season. As a strong platform for the young talents of motorsports, the brand cup and the German Kart Championship (DKM) have formed an attractive alliance. The Champions of the DSKM and DSKC will receive a joint test day in a BMW M2 Cup.
BMW M Motorsport is establishing the BMW M2 Cup in cooperation with the company tolimit & Project 1 and thereby offers young drivers a chance to gather first experiences in a touring car. „We want to offer an attractive and financeable platform to talented drivers with the BMW M2 Cup“, says Thomas Felbermair, Vice President Sales and Marketing BMW M GmbH.
The vehicles are going to be deployed by the experienced racing stable Project 1. „I'm very happy to have found a partner for the brand cup in tolimit & Project 1, who fully supports focussing on the driver's development on the one hand and has decades of experiences in motorsports on the other hand“, Felbermair continues.
„I was really excited before the kick-off and could hardly wait“, said the leader of the Cup, Jörg Michaelis. „Exciting months lie behind the whole team. Since the decision was made last year to create a new racing series, everyone worked tirelessly. I'd like to thank our partners and everyone involved.“
One of the partners is the German Kart Championship. In cooperation with DKM-patron Jörg Bergmeister, the alliance between the highest German kart racing series and the BMW M2 Cup was worked out. The Champions of the German Shifterkart Championship and the DMSB Shifterkart Cup will receive a joint test day in a BMW M2 CS Racing.
„We're very happy to have the BMW M2 Cup as a partner of the DKM. The work with young talents in motorsports is a matter of the heart for us and it's great to connect both series. For the Champions -of the two grade series, it's a great opportunity to drive first laps in a touring car“, says DKM-series coordinator Stefan Wagner, excited about the partnership.
All in all, the BMW M2 Cup consists of six racing weekends, which take place on race tracks in Germany, Belgium, Austria and the Netherlands.
