BhaiTech announces Zdenek Chovanec for 2020 Italian F4 championship

Zdenek Chovanec will join BhaiTech Racing for the 2020 Italian Formula 4 Championship. Born in 2004, Chovanec is making his series debut after entering the F4 UAE championship last winter. The young prospect will line-up alongside the already announced Sebastian Ogaard and Jesse Salmenautio.

Chovanec discovered his passion for racing when he drove a kart for the first time in Portugal, where his family had moved, back in 2018. Fascinated by the experience, he joined the Cabo do Mundo Kart Team and entered his first official event in March 2018, the Portuguese Open, in the Junior category. The Venezuelan left a strong impression by cruising to a podium finish at his very first race. He then confirmed his natural skills in 2019, when he stepped up to the X30 Senior category. Scoring three podium finishes, he ended the Portuguese National Championship in the top-5.

Chovanec made his debut in single-seater competition in the last edition of the Formula 4 UAE Championship, delivering two podium finishes in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. For a 15-year-old racer, standing on the podium at Yas Marina, the same venue of the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, was a dream come true and a great stepping stone in professional motorsports.

"I am delighted for this chance to work with an amazing team like BhaiTech Racing. This is an extraordinary opportunity. I feel ready and confident ahead of the season with the goal of becoming a professional racing driver."

Nicolò Gaglian
“We met Zdenek about one year ago when he started testing with a Formula 4 racecar. Testing then continued throughout the winter and the team found amazing chemistry with him. We also assisted him with our technical staff in his F4 UAE adventure and we decided to continue together for the Italian Formula 4 Championship. I am sure he will do a great job in a season that will feature a lot of rookie drivers like him."
